Lo and behold, there the douchebag was last night on Comcast. Immediate "click"...

yeah me too. I really wanted to see the report too. sucks, standing on my principles. I feel like I am the one being punished. There's what, 4 of us? It's not enough.

There are at least 5. Probably many more on this site alone.

Yup, me too - I'm done with him then and now. If they try to roll him out on CSSNE I too will click off and start emailing then why. DeOssie made this bed, now he's got to lie in it. And I don't want to hear any bull about how sports media folks secretly root for other teams than the ones they cover and I should cut them some slack. the difference? Rooting secretly doesn't include jumping up at a team function pre- SB and ranting how the Gints are going to whoop the Pats. Sorry, Steve. If you're that hyped on the Gints then get a job in NYC!

Change the name in your screen name. Lots of butt hurt in this thread. What a worthless cause.

6 months later and I'm surprised I still feel the same way about him now as I did then. Guy messed up and I still want him gone. Just cant listen to the guy without recollecting what happened. He just needs to ho away. I wouldn't berate him one bit if it was Ny.

Early this summer I had a chance to meet DeOssie at a charity event, but the situation wasn't right to bring up his Giants affiliation or his outward display of affection for them. From what I saw of him that day he's a pretty outgoing person, and I'm sure that when he has a few he probably can get pretty loud.

If I had talked to him that day I would have told him that I was behind him 100%. I've been a Pats fan since the first day, but if one of my kids was on that Giants team I would have been arm-in-arm with DeOssie in Giants blue, yelling and rooting for our sons' team.

Sorry, but blood is thicker than any sports team colors, even those of my beloved Pats.

you must not have seen the video. again it has nothing to do with him being a giants fan and rooting for his kid. nothing zero nada zip. enough with that bullsh!t. it has everything to do with the total lack of respect he displayed to the entire patriots organization and the boston area. hes from boston he should have known better. and it wasn't so much what he said but the over all tone of how he said what he did. its been well known for years that hes a giants supporter and his kid plays for the team. nobody ever had any problem with him until that video came out.

Right. He basically pissed on the entire Patriots fan base... and the team. Screw him. I will not be watching him this season.

Someone here posted a link but it wasn't available to me. Maybe you or someone else can re-post it here, or be more specific about what he said and how he said it.

I have a hard time believing that I couldn't be over the top if my son was on that Giants team, and as I stated, I've been a fan of the Pats from day one.

I'd be interested to know if you have children yourself. I think if you did you wouldn't be labeling my position as bull****.

This has NOTHING to do with him cheering the Giants, and his son. That's been said many times throughout this thread. So please stop saying that's what this is about. It isn't.

The video no longer turns up on Youtube- gee go figure! If it was just him cheering for his son and the Giants, why would he have it taken down? In the video he's had enough to drink to let his true feelings known, and he's on an elevated platform in a room with many, many Giants fans. He goes into detail about how hard it is to be involved with the Patriots and their elitist fans who make his life miserable on a daily basis. He says that Patriots fans are elitist, spoiled, arrogant an annoying people, much like the team and organization they cheer for. He then goes on to say I don't care who knows it, I've kept my true feelings hidden long enough.

So it has nothing to do with cheering for his son and/or the Giants. It has to do with him being a fake. If he's so miserable here, then he should go to NY/NJ and work for the team he loves so much. So he can be honest and sincere in his analysis and commentary.

That's the underlying theme (at least that's what I see it as, others can comment). Don't like it here? Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
The reason this thread is back is because in the very near future, he'll be on TV and radio again talking about how great the Pats are from the top down, like he usually does. Except now we know how he really feels and it is completely contradictory to his weekly BS.

It's widely known that Gresh is a Steelers fan, that DA is a Giants fan, Smerlas is a Bills fan, and many others. Fine, no problem. But they don't represent the Pats on Pats 5th Qtr, etc...

So whether you agree or not, that is what this is about. Not him being a dedicated father.

nobody cares that deossie is a giants fan NOBODYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. NOBODY CARES THAT HE SUPPORTS HIS KID NOBODYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. your postion is based on people in this thread having a problem with him because hes a giants fan. that is wrong. thats why your position is bullsh!t. like i said before NOBODYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ever had a problem with him being a well known giants fan before the video came out. you can be a giants fan and support your kid all day long 24/7 365 days a year and still be respectfull of the team you work for and cover and the area your from. he wasnt . he took a steaming dump on the pats and the fans instead.

I need to rant on this.

Speaking for only myself, I have no problem with the other radio and tv personalities that we hear on a daily basis being fans of other teams. They are human and that is fine. My only ask is that they are entertaining and informative (which is these days sketchy at best.) and don't put down the Pats every minute of the day as I don't want to really hear it. However I don't mind when warranted, if they are critical of the players, coach or playcalling. That is their job. DeOssie has done this on many an occasion. The problem with this whole situation is that he, along with Smerlas, Sheppard and Big-O are guilty of unabashed homerism. Which is certainly entertaining - and annoying. He was the company that he kept.

By included himself with the other fanboys at EEI, he created a personal brand as someone who loves the Pats and the region and created a radio-persona in the process that as you say, led us to believe that he was part of the fandom when in actuality, he wasn't.

If he simply had stated in the past that he still has a deep affection for the Giants (Mara saved his ass from alcoholism) and because his son plays there now, he is a big fan of the organization and that is where his allegiance lies. He also could have said that while he enjoys New England, he at some point in his life would like to move back to NY because he has friends there, closer to his son, other children, etc. That would have been totally understandable.

Because he did not say those things and alternatively was a complete a-hole, he is simply a disingenuous fraud and needs to get off the airwaves.

I agree with this, but unfortunately, the television station he works for does not. I have no problem boycotting his appearances on WEEI (I've switched to 98.5 pretty much exclusively). But Fifth Quarter is the only extensive post-game programming available. I see little choice but suffering through his contributions there as there is little alternative.

I'm not sure you understand. It's a shame that clip is no longer available for you to view. No offense, but unless you see that clip, you're speaking from ignorance on this subject.

He went far beyond stating his support for the Giants in that clip.

He pointedly denigrated the New England/Boston region and its people, laughing that he makes money of the suckers.

There was no excuse for THAT from someone who makes his living in the area. Evidently, there is no personal accountability.

text of what he said:
"You know what, even if my son wasn't playing on the Giants, I would pick the Giants, because they are a better team..." He added "I just came from doing one of our pre-game shows, and we're up there and I got five guys, and there all talking about how great this is, and how great that is, and Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez and Welker. I said I know you got some great receivers, I know you got a great quarterback, but how hard is it to throw that ball when you got JPP, Osi, Tuck all over the place? I feel like I've come home here. I am a Giant in my heart. I'm so glad my son's a NY Giant. I struggle sometimes up in New England, but I know I got a home in New York. I love you guys, my son loves you guys, thank you very very much."

I think what most people have an issue with is the statement "I feel like I've come home here. I am a Giant in my heart. I'm so glad my son's a NY Giant. I struggle sometimes up in New England, but I know I got a home in New York." I know most people could care less that he pulls for his son. He should. Good for him. I believe that the issue is that he's put out an image that he's one of us, and made a very good living off that image, with restaurants, tailgate parties, and as a radio/TV personality who is supposedly "one of us". He's not one of us. He pines to be in NY. The fact that he's put out a false image, and made a handsome living off it, is was frosts most folks IMO.

I can't access the video of this bulging, pink NY d-head but this quote seems enough for Pats fans to take his inventory.
Get this guy out of the Patriot's Pregame Booth.
Objectivity is one thing...

"I feel like am coming home here I am a giant in my heart, so glad my son in a football giant.. I struggle sometimes in New England but I know but I know I got a home in NY"

Go "struggle" somewhere else.
