Stefon Diggs visiting Patriots

This is actually surprising.

Maybe Vrabel and Diggs can come to an understanding. You get an incentive laden deal and if you start your ******** then you’ll never see that money. But if you can be a team player then you will be our legitimate WR1, you’ll rack up very nice stats and be rewarded for it.

The offense they ran in Houston the last couple years has some similarities to what McDaniels runs (his brother is the WRs coach there, so Diggs may already know Josh) and he’s probably a good fit from that perspective. He actually looked very good last year before he got hurt. He stepped right in for Nico Collins which is no small feat.

Sometimes you get attitude problems with the better athletes. Guys like Bourne Polk Baker Douglas Boutte don’t have attitudes because they have no talent. They stink.

Why would you put a condition like that on the player. What ********?
We want receivers who want the ball and speak up when they don’t get it not receivers who can’t get open and are polite
Because this is what pats nation does, micromanage our players. Judge them based on if they would want to go out with a beer with them, not if they can help the team win football games.

I’m speaking from the standpoint of locker room culture
You want to shield your locker room from good, confident players who want every opportunity they can get to help the team win? What culture are you building?

Every all out competitor I have ever met who hates to lose has a little bit of ******* in him. Nice guys finish last is a cliche for a reason.

Ask Vrabel, not me

Love it Ring 6. This is the type of astute and innovative leadership style we need, and which I think Vrabel does bring.

@Ross12 I do like where you are coming from, and you have to toe the line at some point. But sometimes guys come in with a chip on their shoulder and that edge gives them a competitive drive that allows them to win 1 on 1 battles which helps the team win football games

Nothing against guys who have that chip - I think it’s good too and I think Vrabel values that. The issue is when it goes overboard and a player’s personal goals are placed ahead of the team’s success. If you don’t cross that line then it’s all good.

Great post. My biggest concern with Diggs is age and loss of reflexes/speed. In his prime Diggs was a monster. How far removed from his prime is he? How much does he have left? I’m willing to take that Gamble

Flies in the face of recent reporting that said the Pats were avoiding "diva" WRs who demand the ball
Maybe, but if its a year rental then not as big a deal. I was out on DK because he is limited WR and IMO not worth 30M anually. I am willing to trust this F.O.

Was Diggs even a diva in Houston? Seems he was a good soldier there.

Ask Vrabel, not me
Haven’t saying when a top tier WR shied up we should tell him
Listen pal you are a ****, so you better change your personality if you want to play here, and I doubt you will so you have to accept peanuts plus incentives if you want the honor of being on this 16-35 juggernaut” You are.

We desperately need a WR. If the only way to get one is to get a mercenary, that’s better than continue to play guys you can’t win with.
Losing in a good mood was Mayos way.

My biggest concern if they do sign him, is that he tore his ACL last October. How soon until he can play? And even if it's in-time for the regular season (with enough camp time to get familiar enough with the offense), he won't be the Diggs that he was prior to the injury for awhile.

I actually think a Diggs can push Maye to elevate his game. May not be a bad thing

He looked very good last year, but unfortunately he is both 1 year older (32) and also coming off an ACL tear.

Having said that, he is a technician, so I think even with a bit of reduced athleticism he would still be pretty capable. The other issue is that he may not even be ready for week 1.

I don’t think I heard about any issues. Seemed like he fit in fine under Demeco Ryans who profiles similarly to Vrabel in some ways. Also played with a second year QB in Stroud. Stroud had a bumpy year though.
