Stafford on the trading block [update: traded to Rams]

the draft is light on QBs......after the obvious top......there's some FA options out there, but the market could be active, lots of teams potentially looking, with potential big ben & brees retirements, etc......the contracts outside of stafford for top end vets are not great

Newton might be the most viable option (never thought I'd say this, but...).....upgrade via the draft, hope the COVID returners stick, use FA to upgrade other needs.....and look to the 2022 draft class to fill long term need
Um have you seen cam throw the ball? His arm is pretty bad

Can we stop acting like Stidham has shown any sort of evidence that he can be a competent starter in this league, or even a competent second string?

And Mac Jones is fat
Yea but, did you listen to 1:50 of the Mac Jones interview?

oh i agree......but 7 wins, and were a couple of breaks away from 9 with a weak roster.......just saying if his price is right, he'd be year 2 in the system, with the ability to improve lots of other facets.......his footwork was horrid at times, his reads were slow and that led to a lot of horrid throws.....but looking at the options (giving away a 15 for stafford.......big cap hit for garrapolo, etc), bringing him back with an upgraded roster might be the best path to a return to the playoffs with the ability to build from there

not my favorite option.......i'm a sucker for a matt stafford style QB, he's also got a little gunslinger in him.....but as much as they need a QB upgrade, they need a lot of other roster upgrades, too

he’s also clutch as **** and been that way on average teams

Stafford going to a place that has good/great running game would help him immensely. Lions running game has sucked since Barry Sanders retired it seems. I think they last time they had a 1k yard runner was Reggie Bush 8-9 years ago.

Get him and then go get a WR and a TE with the cap space.

I also think Stafford is the kind of gunslinging QB that a guy like Harry needs.

Cam doesn't need to be suiting up next season. Someone like stafford can still sling it all over the yard. All of the more talented qbs in the draft, Fields, Wilson and Lawrence will be gone at 15. We get stafford and give him some weapons, we may get back to the super bowl. Can't be as bad as last year was

I agree. Stafford is not a winner.
Since 2011, nobody has had more fourth-quarter comebacks (19) or game-winning drives (22) than Matthew Stafford.

Stafford was a first overall pick, unlike Cam he can still sling it around the yard and we could go back to a more familiar system compared to what we had last year. Remember Brady made it work with short white guys named Amendola and Edelman. Stafford has had to go through like 3 or 4 head coaches in his career and multiple offensive coordinators which is why the lions havent really done much

When i think of this guy i start to think about brett favre. Will make a great throw and then a bonehead throw. A coaching staff won’t change who he is.

When is the last time Stafford had played a full season? Seems like he is always hurt and when healthy, he is always playing from behind, which accounts for a lot of the passing yardage!

i would be AOK with matt stafford being the starting QB of the new england patriots next year.......if getting him doesn't hamstring the ability to get more talent in here under the cap......

Yeah - we’re not going to find anything like this at #15 if we’re looking at QB there.

How many game-winning plays were shown during those 6 minutes...two? Maybe three?

My thought on Stafford is that he would probably want to go to a team that is playoff ready now. That is not New England.
