Some good news on the Aaron Hernandez cap hit

My source was Miguel's tweet on the $82K; precisely what he says in the cited article

joy, 82K. so they can put another UDFA on the PS.

Pats need to get rid of the 7M issue and I need posters not to deliberately obfuscate what their "good news' just to drive their link clicks-hits. I honestly thought the good news was something meaningful.... silly me.

I just hope Miguel doesn't get banned by the mods for starting a Prisoner thread

Calm down, Gumby. We all hear what you're saying, but it's positive news nonetheless, and I am 100% positive that Ian couldn't care less about getting a click on the link that he posted.

It's not like he's getting paid from himself when someone clicks on the link he posts in the forum. I'm sure things are a bit different on the main forum page in regards to having some additional advertisers have incentive, if you can show them decent numbers, but I couldn't imagine it making much different in the forum itself.

Hope I didn't come across as a ****, you know that's not the intent

no worries on last point.

my assumption was the lead-line; "pats fan article" posting text was written not by Ian but by whoever the writer (benzan sp?) of actual article is. And not everybody looks for clicks for $; some is just self-aggrandizement or whatever.

and am not truly upset; just more disappointed as I clicked expecting to get somethign i really thought merited the term 'good news'. this was more a 'ok, whatever' in my book.

I mean if terms were 90% and he only did 70%; it was a hugely weak case on AH's part to ever think he could win it anyway. but if desperate for cash to pay lawyers you do what you can.

Exactly. All I did was add Miguel's entries into our feed this afternoon so that when he posts something new you'll be alerted it to it, as it's just an automated thing that just posts a new thread when the article is posted. So that's really about it.

I wish someone would give me back $82k

I think the news worthiness of it is that it shows signs of positives to come in terms of larger returns.

He gets $82k per click from what I heard.

That's Miguel, our cap guru.

Hopefully, as Brady6 said, this can be a sign of things to come for more relief from this situation.

Getting indicted in the double murder charge would be helpful to our cause, since it occurred prior to signing the pact. That should happen at some point, but there's no way to predict exactly "when." It could be tomorrow, or it could be anytime between now and Memorial day at the end of May. Sounds like there are lots of complicated matters due to many different issues, some being the meshing of the 2 cases.

I know one thing, when I realized that the Fallen One was probably guilty, I knew that I wanted to either cap him or put a hit out on him . But in all seriousness, I'm glad that the Pats got back some money from Darth Gangsta, no matter how small the amount.

Do you think that they will ask the grand jury pool “are you a member of the Patsfans.com message board who would like the Patriots to have to be $7.5 million in additional cap space this offseason?”

Anything less than full return would be a boston screwjob.

Help me here peeps. Jeff Howe writes and just tweeted about Kraft hoping for relief on The Prisoner's cap hit.

But where in the article does it say that?

I'm glad the Pats are fighting for the cap space back, but personally I do not think they should be able to recoup it, in the name if fairness. Had Aaron Hernandez dislocated his kneecap or suffered a career ending injury, there would be no question, and frankly, that scenario happens all the time across the NFL and is the inherent risk of these contracts. The Cowboys just released Jay Ratliff, while other teams like the Redskins released Haynesworth and other busts due to off-the-field issues. Those teams still need to take the cap hit.

There was some kind of claim that Hernandez was involved in the drive by incident in July 2012 and therefore his contract should be invalid. That is utterly ridiculous. He wasn't released due to that incident, and meanwhile, you could argue that a guy like Haynesworth should have disclosed that he was a jerk-face with motivation issues prior to the contract being signed, and therefore his contract should also be invalid.

The Patriots obviously made a huge mistake with Hernandez, and unfortunately, they'll need to pay for it still a year later. It's a huge hit, but it's not insurmountable. The injuries this year caused the equivalent of about $30M in dead money during the regular season. Heck, the Broncos are in the Super Bowl with tons of dead money on the sidelines.

Another small step for mankind in The Prisoner prosecution.

Any step towards resolution and cap relief is welcomed
Honestly it looks like their grasping for straws looking for something to aid their case that as time progresses appears to be weaker and weaker.
