It's cool, I'm already kidnapping player WAGs for leverage in contract negotiations.

Nothing they can do about that. Solder is a good player but he’s not even close to being the best OL in football, and that’s what the Giants paid him as. I could see going to 12.5-13 when pushed to it, but 15.5 is way too much.
Best of luck to him and his family.
Congrats to Solder on that contract. Knowing that the Patriots were not going to match that no matter what makes this pill a bit easier to swallow.
Nick Kaczur's not walking in through that door!!!!
It's always painful to lose players but is anyone arguing the team should've retained Butler and Solder at a level commensurate to the $$ they received elsewhere (ignoring, of course, the fact that Butler was highly unlikely to return regardless of what the Patriots offered)?
Thank God.
they only had 18M in cap space before the signing, have to expect big moves coming on their part to free up moreHighest paid OT in the NFL!?!? Yet another GM who doesn’t understand economics.
This is a little dramatic, no?

I think what makes this so scary is that basically the Pats now have zero OTs who (A) are under contract and (B) ended last season healthy. Weddle and Fleming are FAs, and Cannon and Garcia were on reserve lists (IR, NFI).
With Solder gone, I will be surprised if they don't draft an OT.
