Soft Pats 'D' can't follow Mayo's lead

possibly im a bit arrogant but i dont understand the thread title, if anything i would think the pats D should follow his lead no?

The Pats really had trouble with the running game but I think they were also pretty worn out. I mean the Browns had the ball for 38 minutes compared to 22 for the Pats, a huge discrepancy, and they ran the ball 44 times on us.

I thought Mayo played well today. Hillis was a tough match-up when he lined up as a receiver, but I think most ILBs would struggle with that. Overall, he was one of the few bright spots on a really dismal day.

Mayo played great, sure, he couldn't catch a 250lb white guy running down the field.

Mayo got totally taken advantage off today in pass coverage. They picked on him like he was the fat kid in recess.

Mayo played poorly today, but he wasn't the biggest problem out there. The DLine was terrible, especially Warren. The guy got blown 5 yards off the ball repeatedly. Surprisingly Wilfork was also consistently blown off the LOS. Banta Cain also sucks and I'm really starting to question what he is doing on this team. He is one of the worst run defenders that I've ever seen.

I don't see how Mayo played great. I don't care if it's Barry Sanders in the backfield, a back getting 30 carries for 180 or whatever Hillis got is piss poor play by the MLB. Mayo wasn't good today. He wasn't the worst player on the field, but he clearly didn't have a good game.

Hopefully this will be addressed in the off-season via free agency or the NFL Draft.

This defense is dramatically worse without Chung in there.

It reminds me of how different this defense was whether Rodney Harrison was in there or not.

Chung would have had little to do with Cleveland's running back gashing into the third tier of defense...the front seven were pretty bad today and a safety would not have prevented those easy 10 yard gains

I also think Chung makes all the difference in the world. He's a guy we can't replace or live without longterm.
