You evidently didn't see Belichick handle the Tebow and Hernandez media situations. Let me describe for you those media situations: after the initial day, there were no media situations. In the event Sam becomes a Patriot, Bill Belichick won't "answer Sam questions the whole 2014 season.". Hell, he won't answer Sam questions beyond the first one asked of him. How anyone could possibly think otherwise is beyond me. No one (emphasis added) in the media determines what Bill does or doesn't answer. Bill does, and that's why those of us who dislike the media think Bill's great and it's also why the media dislikes Bill. Case closed,end of story.

Most overrated concern in football. The Pats didn't answer questions all year about Hernandez and ESPN and theTebow fanatics were not a distraction during the preseason and probably wouldn't have been if they kept Tebow into the season.

Hell, in San Diego, Manti Teo was supposed to be a distraction all year too and they had their best season in years.

Anyone who thinks the media is going to go the entire training camp and preseason and then go 17 weeks barraging the Patriots coaches and players with questions about Sam's sexuality every week is kidding themselves. Whatever team that drafts him will be the center of the media attention the first week of training camp and then the media interest will drop off. This isn't a story that has a lot of legs.

Just because it is your perspective does not mean I agree. I do not disagree that bigotry towards gay people is bigotry towards people in general, but that is not the subject of this thread.

BTW, I have avoided this thread because I figured it would devolve which it did a bit. But good for Michael Sam. I have no problem with him being gay. I am happy for him that he doesn't have to hide it.

I am totally straight, but I would have no problem being in a locker room with a gay guy. Hell, I sure I have been plenty of time in the gym without knowing it. Considering the success rate I have had with women in my lifetime, I am sure that I am the last one a gay guy is checking out in the showers anyway.

Then, I remember that most people who think like you will soon be senile or dead and replaced with a far more educated, intelligent generation. What is wrong with that? You act as if they have an obligation to pretend they are like you.
I am pretty sure I would rather have my children model the character, integrity and personality of a person who treats ALL other with respect and sleeps with the same sex, that you who disrespects anyone not like you and sleeps with the opposite sex.
In either case they will end up with their own inborn sexual orientation but in one case they would be good human being who respect others and in the other they would be hateful jerks.

I'm not gay, but at least 3 kids on my block were gay so I can see where you are coming from. Oddly enough I contibute this to cartoons where characters like Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck and Yosemite Sam etc.. would spontaneously change into cross dressing drag queens and take on the role of the submissive female types.

I also want to point out that if Sam is a good teammate and contributing player, I'd play alongside him with no problems if I were a player. That's what it comes down to.

Does being a good teammate include not acting gay?
Every lockerroom I have ever been in, sex is a huge topic of conversation.
So if Sam is doing like the straight players and talking about sex, telling stories, etc, does that make him a bad teammate?
If he openly discusses his gayness, just as straight players openly discuss their sexual proclivities, is he still a good teammate?
If he brings a date to a party at your house and makes out with them, while straight players are doing the same, is he still a 'good teammate'?

You claim that gays are not mentally and physically healthy because they have a high rate of STDs.

Black men also have a disproportionate rate of STDs.. does this mean they are also mentally and physically unhealthy?

If you answer no, then you are obviously biased towards gays.

If you answer yes, then you would be erroneous. According to the CDC, the health of black men is not significantly different than the health of the average man.

The perspective that homosexuality is 'unnatural' that you, boogs, kontradiction and others have put forth is a very poor argument because a great deal of civilization is "unnatural" if we were to follow that line of thinking.

Were "natural" to be equated with "what is right," and "unnatural" equated with "what is wrong" then all of us were wrong the day we put on clothes because no other animals do that. No other animals drive cars, watch tv, or play football.

And invoking the bible in a literal fashion is pretty silly because if we were to take it literally, the entire NFL would have to be put to death for working on the Sabbath, according to Moses.
