So how do you grade this year’s draft?

So.....are we still grading the Pats draft?

You’re all a bunch of ****ing broken records. Absolutely ruining this board.
Same old ****, day after day.
@Ian , it’s time to deputize some folks. This **** is like the Wild West west. Don’t care about the posters history. Don’t care how long they’ve been here, what they’ve done. They talk about Brady vs Belichick in a non Brady vs Belichick thread, they get a warning, after that, no more warnings. Take the board down to 10 posters if we have to. We must curb this ****ing plague.

Have you watched any film on Thornton at all? Dude does everything right, he fights for the ball, has good body control, has elite speed, catches the ball with his hands and not his body, runs routes well even in a system with a reduced route tree and adjusted to the ball well when his QB under threw him. He's looking like a steal in the draft on film

Yeah whatever you say, Matt...

Great post, AND from what I've read post draft, the Pats draft is getting both athletic and character qualities in these guys.

Have you seen BoneyT's agility #s?

And on Zero scouting reports will you read of JackOff Jones' character qualities.

Thats ok, Im open to having any discussion as long as the arguments can at least be backed up reasonably. No harm in disagreeing. Im just not sure if his anger is misguided...Seemed like the team no longer wanted Brady on the roster but that could just be me
I don't see how BB can be blamed for TB leaving, or that it was even a bad thing that he left. The guy was going on 43, was expecting a large percentage of our cap space, and our talent level across the board was down after having won 3 of the past 6 SB's. TB's last year here ended badly, the team was dead in the water whether he stayed or not. Our only real option was to do what we did: let him go, endure a bad season while resetting the roster and cap, and start over the next year. Now we're a playoff team with a good young QB, and finally some weapons as well. That's good management. If we'd retained Brady, we'd be in far worse shape right now.

I think a bigger issue is the negativity over this draft, which looks like a real solid draft to me. To be this negative reveals a pretty deep seated dislike of Belichick, and the rest of us would rather not have to deal with that in every thread. Be thankful you have such a successful coach/gm that has brought us so much winning, and is obviously bringing along this new version of the team just fine.

Based on his generally poor drafting history maybe he should stop saying FU and just listen to the pundits. He can’t be doing worse than he already is. Especially with WRs and defensive backs. The only thing that has been some salvation is finding OL as starters in 4th and 5th rounds consistently but I am starting to feel that was more Scar turning mediocre talent into more capable professionals rather than BB. Recently low round OL have done nothing since Scar retired
Jesus, you're back?? Kill me now.

Thornton 3 Cone: 7.25
DK Metcalf 3 Cone: 7.38

So you still haven't answered the question about whether you've watched the tape on him.

I thought I heard something about Hill being pissed that he didn't get the ball from Mahomes enough, and that he wasn't coming back no matter what. It's too bad that he ended up in Miami but we're lucky that they don't have much of a QB.
Lol... well, he's an idiot then. He's not going to have it better in Miami.

Again, you are just excuse making for one side. It’s a 9 year body of work. Cleveland made the playoffs 5 out of 6 yearsbefore he took over the team. They weren’t dysfunctional. Again 1 playoff appearance in 5 years. 2000 had a lot of talent on the roster and a pro bowl caliber qb, went 5-11. The next year was 0-2 before Brady played and then they immediately went 11-3 and won the super bowl. You have all the excuses laid out, which is fine. We will see what the future holds! But it’s hard to ignore the massive sample size without Brady.

But I’m also guessing on the other hand you’d say Brady went to a loaded team and quality franchise to have his success post BB right? If he failed would you said he’s 43 years old and went to a 7-9 team with the worst franchise in pro football that hasn’t made the playoffs in 15 years? My guess…probably not
2001 the Patriots were voted by the other GMs as the least talented team in the NFL.

A lot of talent?

Absurd.

Let's face it, the D and Belichck won that Super Bowl for the Patriots.

It's totally absurd nonsense to say otherwise.

I don’t disagree, but also how can anybody be mad at Brady for leaving I guess would be my point? Seemed to me he wanted to come back on an extended deal but the team didn’t want it. That’s their right entirely. I don’t think the deal he got was really that expensive though.

Well they were 5-13 to start the patriot era, so I’d guess the quarterback played some sort of role in that

You are simply just contradicting yourself with each line. The chiefs couldn’t create cap space, if they could they would’ve…so you’re essentially saying the patriots didn’t want JC on the roster? They had 10 mil in space before FA, he accounts for 80% of that. Unless they didn’t want anybody else added then they could’ve afforded him

Also what’s Tyreeks cap number this year?
No contradictions at all. We had the space for JC. We didn't need more space to sign him. It's the whole reason we offered him a massive contract. Wasn't as big as SD's but we could've done that too.

As for KC, they haven't signed a single new FA after the Tyreek Hill trade. Not one. It's been a month and a half since the trade.

By trading Tyreek, the Chiefs cleared up $15m in cap space. This shows you how up against the cap they were. They've already guaranteed almost all of Mahomes's money. There's no savings there. They guaranteed him $131m. That's what he would cost to cut him tomorrow. There is no restructure benefit with Mahomes.

You look up and down their roster, KC doesn't have players to restructure so they can tack on $10m a year for Tyreek. and they need to sign Kelce who is well underpaid.

I’m excited about Thornton but DK is 50
Pounds heavier. Not exactly a fair comparison

Or... it takes a year for the team to turnaround. That team was thought to be lacking talent. They were voted the least talented. Brady didn't come in and light the world on fire. Anyone who said he did wasn't watching. Were you?

This is a wonderful draft. Well done, Baltimore.

The Patriots draft is criminally bad.

For sure not, but was it possible he made winning plays that helped the team? Where as for 18 games Bledsoe didn’t? Unless you just think the rebuild immediately concluded a few weeks into 01. Clearly something improved when Brady stepped on the field.
