SMY: Blount has sprained MCL and should be ready for the season

Okay. A little worse than i hoped but not horrible. Time to see what we have in our backups. I hope Grey can show something.

Blount can't play until week 2. As long as it isn't a bad sprain, he should be fine by week 2.

Not so bad. He's suspended for week 1 anyway, so he'll have plenty of time to recover. Obviously not ideal, since it'll make it hard for him to be in game shape come week 2, but the other RBs need an extended look anyway.

First opponent is Pitt. Probably not gonna run much.

As far as knee injuries go, I just breathed a sigh of relief. I could care less about the start of the season. As long as we have our 260 lb RB going full speed in the cold weather, I'm just fine.

Now I really need to hear about Chandler's knee.

Good news....could have been much worse. I'll take it.

Roster exemption, game 1

I can't stand TC or the preseason for this reason alone. I realize it would be impossible to avoid it altogether, but the whole month of August seems like one big worry (for me) just trying to get to the regular season every year.

So far we have Edelman, LaFell, Tyms, Blount, Chandler, Dobson, Wendell, and Stork--and that's just on offense.

I still have a hunch that we could have been the team ready to make Rice an offer until upper mgmt rejected the idea, as reported by various outlets.

The Schiano + Rutgers + value connections just make me wonder if it was ever on the table, particularly with Schiano now openly lobbying for him to get a second chance?

It doesn't matter, but I am curious, and did expect a RB to be drafted this past spring.

Never understood the Blount hate. Unless you're a video game guy/gal. And if you are, go to a fantasy board.

Oh no!!!

This seems pretty minor, so I am not too concerned other than the fact that he might be slow out of the gate now as he tries to work himself into football shape during the season (assuming he does not return during TC). I was hoping NE found a way to retain Ridley for one more season at least for this type of situation. Oh well. I still feel decent about our run game because our O-Line should be stout this year in that area.

Gray gets a whole month with the first team in practice & preseason. If he can seize the starting job, that would be the best outcome for our backfield IMO:

Starter: Gray
Change of pace/4th quarter: Blount
Receiving: White/Cadet
ST/depth: Bolden

Blount is still at his best spelling the starter with fresh legs in the second half (also trolling the Colts). Still not sure he can be a 20+ carry effective starter like 2012 Ridley, 2010 BJGE, Dillon, Smith. I can see Jonas as that guy.
