Siliga Out, DL in

Kelly looked around and saw that the patriots would need to replace every lineman, except Easley in a few years. Siliga and Jones might be around, but a 33 year old coming off knee surgery is pretty much game to game.

He was not cut, he woke up and smelled the coffee and found a team that had a lot of DL in their prime and only needed to replace one who was injured temporarily.

Kelly made the decision. Maybe you need to talk to him.

You're the one that says BB is supposed to predict which young players will get hurt and keep old players forever, having that knowledge.

If we're going to deage players, I'd rather have seymour than Kelly anyway.

You're the one that's in denial that players ever age, you consistently ***** about every single one that is let go due to salary or to turnover the lineup before the budget gets tied in knots.

I'm not in denial about aging players or roster turnover. Keep going, though. It's very amusing to watch you trying to turn this around onto me. Apparently, your being obtuse was not deliberate.

as much as it pains me to agree with deus......i literally get headaches sometimes........i wish BB wouldn't have got so cute and lost kelly......assuming he was back to where he was at the beginning of last year, roughly......

Everybody wants to keep good players forever. Teams that do that get into salary cap hell, have to blow teams up and start over, usually at the bottom.

Kelly wasn't the only player with a contract based largely on playing time, so was Wilfork. I'm as big a Seymour fan as anyone, but do I wish we hadn't made that trade? Not when we have a young lineman, struggling or not, while Seymour hasn't played since 2012, and he only played 8 games then.

Lots of teams have a couple good years, then implode for a while. we don't, because we turn over players and salaries. I like our way.

Get back to me when you realize that the team had a contract with Kelly, and had him in camp, and had him starting indicating that they wanted to keep him, on at least some level.

In your attempt to not understand the incredibly obvious, you are actually arguing against Bill Belichick while attempting to lecture us on Bill Belichick.

Why does everyone assume the Texans were open to trading pick 11?

They thinking is likely that they could've found a trading partner at some point prior to that selection had they wanted him for the necessary compensation (which they obviously didn't), as teams trade up and down during every single draft. It's not as much about "the Texans" at #11 as you say, as it may have been about the handful of teams who picked before them.

For example, DAL gave up a 2nd rounder to move up 6-8 spots to the #6 selection when they took CB Morris Claiborne in the next draft.

It's certainly not unheard of that teams are willing to trade up/down. Obviously, Belichick either : 1) didn't feel that it was worth the trade compensation that it would've taken, 2) didn't bother discussing it with the 10 teams who picked before Watt, 3) didn't care for Watt's talents or attitude or 4) none of the teams were willing to trade with him.

He decided his prospects were better elsewhere.
