Sign the Beast X: WR Reggie Wayne wants one more year on a contender

Not worth it. Have ton of respect for the guy, but at the same time he's in his late thirties and i don't see any upside of what he would offer us over Amendola who was looking to be what everyone expected when we first signed him a couple years ago.

Just as with the 5-head, the issue with Wayne is figuring out how much of the problem last season was due to injury, and how much was due to decline.

Sounds like something you could figure out in TC. Bring him in on a minimum contract with a roster bonus for the first week of the regular season. The question is if he would agree to a contract like that. Most probably not.

I guess its also worth considering it would be a one year rental. Not that Amendola is a spring chicken but ud at least have him beyond next year.
If they lose Amendola I agree.

He'll be 36-1/2 yrs old to start the 2015 season. He's pretty much done. He should retire a Colt (1-day) and finish on a high note. Not like Farve who finished his career with a fizzle. IMO

they should sign wayne and welker to babysit some of the pats kids

He almost signed here a few years ago so I def could see it happening if the money worked out.
I could see Wayne being smart enough to pick up our system (more so than most eligible WRs).

How much he can help, is worth kicking the tires. If close to the vet minimum, he could be let go easiliy if it's not working out (and BB would know before TC ended anyhow).

I think I'd rather sign Nicks than Wayne at this point. Wayne looks done and obviously the colts think so too

I think for him at this point it might be the Patriots or retirement, that's what this message is telling me. I don't think he would be aiming to be #1 or #2 receiver, even #3, and BB must be thinking the same. As a rotational guy to play a reduced number of snaps, more of an end zone target, it might work, even old no one will have in uncovered. It's more about hands than speed in my opinion.

He would definitely bury Dobson on the depth chart thought, if BB do not trade him before.

This feels like Tory Holt part 2.

Remember when Tory Holt came to Pats camp but did not survive the cuts (and thus retired)?

Sure, no harm no foul, but I imagine Wayne would suffer the same fate.

let's put it this way, even if he were to make the team he would be at the bottom of the depth chart AND we know how BB loves guys with special teams value to fill the bottom of the depth chart (RW doesn't meet that requirement).

Trust me, I would love to have him as our 4th/5th wide receiver, but that's only because I'm one of those fans that loves big names but I know that it woudln't make the most sense for the Pats.
