Let's see Polian spin this!

On the Pats: "With three Super Bowl titles, the Patriots will be the decade's most successful NFL franchise regardless of what happens this season...New England is an NFL-best 14-3 in the postseason during its run..."

On the Colts (#8 overall): "Even with its Super Bowl XLI victory, Indianapolis is only 7-7 during the playoffs this decade...have lost their first postseason game five times -- and...are only 1-2 vs. New England during the playoffs."

There's no way in my mind the Colts can be higher than the Steelers on this list thus making the list a joke. I don't care what the regular season records are or that the Steelers missed the playoffs a few times in the decade. The Steelers have more SBs and they have more playoff victories than the Colts.

The elder goober is the face of the league.

Big Ben almost kills himself on motorcyles and has legal problems.

I sure hope Aluminumseats sees this article after his poll at:

Hey seats, SI gives some solid reasons for Lakers over PATs.
check it out.

Well, no question it comes down to those two, right? Interesting that they give the Lakers 4 titles, when I think we on the board determined they could logically have 5. Considering the Pats could tie on the number of titles, it seems premature (but I understand this is when magazines have to put these kinds of things out.)

In that thread, I stated that the Lakers were the better franchise and had more success. Obviously, when comparing titles, it's an easy choice when the Lakers have 4 titles over the Patriots 3. Also, the Lakers won three straight. Pretty easy argument if you ask me. However, it's obvious that the Patriots are the best franchise in the NFL.

yeah, it's amazing the way that Polian has been trying to spin the colts' 115 "regular season" wins into some sort of magical ticket to being declared the best NFL franchise of the decade.

he's been almost frenetic about it since they handed away the 16--0 season on sunday.

i don't think we should underestimate how dependent Polian and the Colts are, in a small market, on the Goodwill of their fans. The state and city are hurting big time economically and Irsay's sweetheart stadium deal is a real drag on municipal and state finances. Their fans are not only taxpayers who are shouldering that burden but they are also voters to whom Polian's friendly local politicians are beholden. These fans were vocal and derisive in their criticism of the decision to boot away the perfect season.

The free agent system in the NBA favors dynasties, and this is easy to see because over the last 10 or 15 years we see a lot of dynasties, such as the Lakers, Bulls, Spurs, etc. It's just not as hard to become a dominant team in the NBA as it is in the NFL.

I'm a fan of both the Patriots and the Lakers!!!!!!!!!!
Go Lakers and Go Patriots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lakers: 4 Titles
Patriots: 3 Titles

There is no doubt that the Patriots are the #1 team of the decade, but the Lakers have more championship appearances (6 to 4) and titles (shown above). The Lakers only missed the Playoffs once in 2005 and the Pats have missed in 2000, 2002 and 2008. But then again, its two different sports. I could see both teams winning it all this year for sure.
