Shouldn't the real concern be Buffalo?

You know what? I think the Dolphins are the second best team in the division right now. They probably won't finish better than third, but if they pulled it together earlier than after their seven game losing streak they would be the real concern for the Pats in the AFC East.

As for the Bills, they lost several players yesterday for the season or for multiple weeks. Odds are they will be out of playoff contention in about three weeks. Granted if they beat the Jets next Sunday, it will be true suicide watch in NY.

If you look at 'Net Pts', Miami (+7) is ahead of the Bills (-16) and just behind the Jets (+11). They have the best D in the AFCE, only allowing 186 pts in 10 games. They're not a contender, but they are certainly going to have a chance to play spoiler.

Looking at the Bills schedule, I wouldn't be shocked to see them finish 5-11.

OK my OP about Buffalo concern doesn't look so ominous after today.

But if Pats somehow lose tomorrow night, we're back to were we were with Buffalo. They would be really only a half a game behind b/c of the 1st meeting. Then if Buffalo can just hang within one game of the Pats the rest of the season, the AFC east COULD come down to a winner take all last game.

Obviously, the way NE is playing and the way Buffalo is playing right now, that doesn't seem likely. But doesn't the 2011 season seem really streaky, esp in the AFC east? Pats win 3, lose 2, win 2; Jets win 2, lose 3, win 3, lose 2; buffalo streaks out then back, etc. Stranger things have happened.

I will never understand the kind of fandom that looks for a cloud behind any silver lining...

And welcome to the NFL where they've all got talent as witnessed by your fantasy rosters makeup and it often boils down to matchups and variables like inherent injuries due to the physical nature of the game and egos and coaching and focus and sheer luck. Really, 18-0 totally warped many of you... You now anticipate if not expect dominance and anything less is the anomoly...

Miami is losing it's 8th game on Thanksgiving....I expect 10 losses for the phins when it's over

real concern sb pittsburgh, baltimore, or possibly even the raiders. Any team with a good defense and an accurate QB...and then green bay, new orleans, or the giants if they get to the SB. Is there any way to beat GB?

1) Take out Aaron Rodgers for the season with a low cheap shot
2) Your offense needs to score 40 Points On GBs defense then hope you can keep them from scoring 50
3) Hope that at least 2 of their receivers miss a part or most of a game
4) Build a brick wall along the white lines of the end zone so any GB offensive player can't get into it

I am afraid that's the only way GB doesn't do a repeat this year

C'mon.
You're acting as if you missed the Patriots' 2001 season and 2007 season SBs
Two lessons there on inevitability.

In a hypothetical, knock-on-wood Super Bowl matchup between the Pats and Green Bay, the Packers might be heavy favorites. Hell, they might even be the better team, on paper.

But in a single, winner-take-all game, I'll take the team with Belichick and Brady on it every time.

The real question in a NE vs 18-0 GB Super Bowl is who is Shula pulling for? Will Mercury Morris write some new raps for the occasion? Will there be a new barbecue commercial after the Super Bowl?

Really I don't think I can stomach them being pulled out of the mothballs again.

As much as I'll root for the Bills this coming week vs the Jets they're going to lose by 16+ for the 4th straight week.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. They'e outscored their opponents in the last 3 games by a score of 86-20.
