Simple question.

I personally wanna wear white.

Are you on the team???

blue, always blue for me.

Since the Pats wore blue in the game we don't talk about, do they switch to white this time around?

Added: Drat. They apparently must wear dark uniforms, by rule.

More: Maybe not!

I thought they got to choose since they were the "home" team.... I guess not

They don't get a choice. They switch every year. Since the Steelers wore their road uni's last season, we will wear blue.

Folks! It's not a choice.

Bring back the silver "dirty white" jerseys.

Just kidding of course. Still annoyed that the Pats brought back the throwback red jerseys immediately after I bought one of those silver jerseys.

You dont get to choose.

The AFC team wears their dark unis in even numbered Super Bowls.

Should I lock this thread, or do you want me to keep it open?
The designated 'home' team gets to choose and it's been that way since 1979.

Pittsburgh chose to wear white in Super Bowl XL because they won all their playoff games on the road. Last year there was speculation the Packers were going to do the same thing.

Nope.

Once again AFC wears darks in even numbered SB's.

Check out the darks for the Pats in SB's 36, 38 and 42.

Whites in SB 39.

Etc.

Steelers wore white in superbowl 40. You get to choose.

Some Googling supports this, but I find nothing definitive from the NFL itself.

Ian just wrote an article regarding this today.

According to the NFL PR Director Brian McCarthy, the Patriots will be the home team in the Super Bowl, and will have the option of wearing either their dark or white jersey when they take the field against the winner of the NFC.

Can they pick black and white striped and blow the whistle. I'm sure there's some psychological advantage to wearing a color that the Patriots staff will be aware of. I may not even notice the color when the game is on.

There was a thread up here complete with an article about this topic. Some people suggested wearing throw back Red uniforms. Looks like the article has been moved or merged.

Thanks for the clarification.

Evidently, the Pats prefer the blues when they choose traditionally because they wore white in SB31 and SB 39, they wore blue in SB 36, 38 and 42.

However, given the history of their last SB against the Giants, I wonder whether they switch to the whites.
