Schefter: Pats sign Brandon Lloyd

What the hell are you talking about? The 2007 offense is the #1 scoring offense in the history of the NFL. His 1998 Vikings have the #3 scoring offense in the history of the NFL.

Seriously, you need to go sleep it off.

I guess we will have to just disagree. You like different attributes in a WR.

You talked about making an offense harder to stop. Moss has been part of 2 of the 3 highest scoring offenses in NFL history. How is that not making an offense harder to stop?

Let's face it, your arguments on this topic suck.

I'm going to leave it like this.

Brandon Lloyd....barring injury will have more games as a Patriot were he doesn't disappear, have more 3rd down conversions, and will be more productive in the playoffs in 2012 than Randy Moss did at any point during his career as a Patriot.

Will Brandon Lloyd be facing triple teams and dealing with a completely immobile QB?

Also, what does one run of games have to do with the overall comparison? If you're going to make an argument, make one that is semi-reasonable. This one of yours has been a freaking joke from the beginning.

Not that I would be totally against bringing him in but I don't know if it would be a wise financial move. It's been talked about already. How much do you pay for a 4th-5th target in our offense? If we added Wallace, unless Hernandez becomes the 5th target, it becomes Brandon Lloyd and $4 million a year is pretty expensive for someone that far down the checkdown list.

Really? Why are you guys still talking about wallace! We weren't getting him before we signed lloyd and we for damn sure ain't getting him now!

Thank God....I never wanted Wallace. Especially if we had to give up a 1st for him.

Hell.....Steeler fans will tell you they like A. Brown better

great pick up for the Pats!!:rocker: Nordberg, plz do not mention brandan lloyd in the same breath as a prime randy moss. thats like comparin brady to tebow

great pick up and did not brake the bank NFL.COM says it's about 4 million per, i dont see him puting up the moss type numbers that some think im looking for him to have numbers closers to with branch did last year about 60 rec 800 yards 5 TD's and thats a great season for a #4 opt in any offense

Finally, now lets make it work Brandon.

OT: I still sthink we need to run the ball. That will open more lanes than having Lloyd. Still a good signing though.

I think it's a shame that Lloyd got a smaller deal than the other free agents WRs. even Reggie Wayne got more, and he's three years older! in all likelihood Lloyd will be very productive in our system and will be worth far more than what he got.

after watching that I cannot figure out why his stats are so average for almost his entire career......

How could people not be ecstatic about this signing......

I guess he never had the right circumstances to thrive in until McDaniels.

And to be fair to the guy, arguably the best QB he has played with is Kyle Orton, so its not like he has been on very productive teams.

Whatever the counter argument is that <insert random player> can't play in this system is applicable to Lloyd and McDaniel's offense.

This is a very, very exciting day! OK, call me a greedy (fill-in-the-blank) SOB but adding a bruising FB like Tolbert would just send me over the edge with drooling anticipation for how badly TB will undress even the best defense.....

I'm happy with this signing, don't get me wrong. If he gives us what he's been doing the past 2 years I am so excited. But I don't get why he was not very good from 07-10. That gives me slight pause.

HE has the football IQ to thrive in this O, McD had him running the entire route tree, not just go patterns.

Different Horses for different tracks.

It is crazy to think that in any way Lloyd is better than Moss was in 2007. But I do think that the 2012 team, assuming Waters and Light return, has a chance of threatening the all-time scoring record. I don't think Lloyd will suddenly add 800 yards of passing for Brady, and I think that it is more likely that Lloyd's stats are culled from other players', but I think he'll open the field up and the Pats will be far more efficient. I also expect Ridley and Vereen (if he stays on the field) to be explosive out of the backfield. This could be an all-time great offense in 2012.

Keep in mind, however, one key difference between the 2007 and 2012 teams: defense.

The 2007 team had one of the best defenses in the league:

- #4 in scoring defense
- #4 in yardage defense
- #9 in takeaways

So the 2012 team needs to do a lot better than what it did this past year in order to give the offense the help it needs.
