It's easy, and only takes a few moments. It is crazy to think that in any way Lloyd is better than Moss was in 2007. But I do think that the 2012 team, assuming Waters and Light return, has a chance of threatening the all-time scoring record. I don't think Lloyd will suddenly add 800 yards of passing for Brady, and I think that it is more likely that Lloyd's stats are culled from other players', but I think he'll open the field up and the Pats will be far more efficient. I also expect Ridley and Vereen (if he stays on the field) to be explosive out of the backfield. This could be an all-time great offense in 2012.
Keep in mind, however, one key difference between the 2007 and 2012 teams: defense.
The 2007 team had one of the best defenses in the league:
- #4 in scoring defense
- #4 in yardage defense
- #9 in takeaways
So the 2012 team needs to do a lot better than what it did this past year in order to give the offense the help it needs.
Randy Moss in 2007 with Tom Brady throwing him the ball:
1,493 yards with a 15.3 yard average
Brandon Lloyd in 2010 with Kyle Orton throwing him the ball:
1,448 yards with a 18.8 yard average
Just saying
That's great. He's going to be great in this offense.
Just one question.....Why the *uck didn't we sign him last season when we had the chance? Pats would have won the SB.
While we all can disagree on projections of his value, if the guy makes Nordberg right, we will all be happier for it.
The biggest concern isn't his ability on the field, it is his inability off the field. That's what we should be hoping/praying about.

Awww yeaa...really excited. This dude can make some sick grabs.
Very excited to see what the 2012 Pats O is gonna do.
I think it's a shame that Lloyd got a smaller deal than the other free agents WRs. even Reggie Wayne got more, and he's three years older! in all likelihood Lloyd will be very productive in our system and will be worth far more than what he got.
Thanks for the link. I've heard a lot of people talk about his body control, but to see it in such a conentrated format is..... I've never seen body control like that in a football player. He secures the ball instantly and flows to a protected potition faster than anyone I've ever seen. Watch how he goes to the ground, and moves while on the ground. He won't take too many big hits with Brady throwing him the ball. He also appears to be amazing at adjusting to the ball in the air, which should cure what ails Brady's long ball of late.
If the Pats resign Light and Waters, and the Pats stay relatively healthy, this will be the best offense the league has ever seen.

I'm more concerned about his behavior in the locker room. He wants the ball, but Brady isn't going to put up with him demanding it, that is for sure.
That said, I like the signing.
I'm no expert, so I defer to the coaches who frequent the board ... seems to me that since Moss (no comparisons, just an observation) that we've been missing an outside receiver who could make a great comeback play. That was one of the plays Moss could do with regularity because he was so dangerous downfield. Moss was absolutely brilliant at that play.Brandon Lloyd 'Spectacular' Highlights - YouTube

Not sure if you'er being sarcastic. I believe Brandon Lloyd wants to be great, and believes his best shot is with McDaniels calling the offense and Brady throwing him the ball. He's probably looking at this as a ticket to the hall of fame, and perhaps a prelude to one of the biggest WR contracts of all time... after the slary cap expands. He is getting what he wants, and still getting millions. You can't ask for much more than that from a job.

After listening to him speak on the subject, I think Brandon is smarter than that, you don't get a ticket to the HOF in your 30's unless you buy it. But he certainly is still looking for vindication and that's fine. Hall of the very good. He seems to grasp that it's all about the system and with few exceptions for otherworldly talent you don't succeed if you land in the wrong one and if you land in the right one some folks will say you're a system player. Around here players who succeed get that it is what it is and learn to live with that, and being put in position to win a lot. Those who don't seek opportunities to disprove the theory or finish their careers out somewhere else on less value oriented deals. And Lloyd won't be breaking anyone's bank after the salary cap expands, he's past that point career wise no matter what he does here.
