I suspect that 12 positions are truly up for grabs.

Is the NCAA skipping a week of the college football playoffs because they didn't want to go head to head with two NFL games?
It looks that way to me, though it may more likely be a case of the networks controlling football organizations (tail wags the dog).

4:30 ET: 10-5 Houston Texans at 11-4 Los Angeles Chargers (-1½)
NFL Network. Announcers: Rich Eisen, Kurt Warner; sideline: Jamie Erdahl, Megan Olivi

Houston has won seven in a row - the NFL's current longest winning streak - after being written off when they started the season 3-5. The Texans are one game behind Jacksonville in the AFC South; Houston finishes with a winnable game (home vs Indy), while the Jaguars are at Indy Sunday, then finish home vs Tennessee. A Texans loss to the Chargers coupled with a Jags win tomorrow means Jacksonville clinches the division and at least a #3 seed.

The Chargers have won four in a row and seven of their last eight. They'll need some help to win the division, but can clinch at least the #5 seed with a win here plus a Buffalo loss to Philly on Sunday.

8:00 ET: 7-8 Baltimore Ravens at 9-5-1 Green Bay Packers
Peacock. Announcers: Noah Eagle, Todd Blackledge; sideline: Kathryn Tappen

Baltimore cannot make the playoffs as a wildcard; the only way they can make the postseason is to (1) beat the Packers, plus (2) Steelers lose at Cleveland tomorrow, and (3) beat Pittsburgh next week. The Ravens won five in a row to momentarily seem like they were going to win the AFC North, but since then have lost three out of four. Green Bay clinched a playoff spot after Detroit lost to Minnesota on Thursday. The only way they can win a division title is to win twice, plus Chicago loses twice. I'm guessing they are going to rest some starters here, which would make getting a temporary subscription to Peacock meaningless.

Can someone send me a link (inbox) for the Houston/Chargers game, that I can watch online?

Thanks in advance!

Any available viewing options for the late game without buying that infernal Peacock channel?

The first game is particularly important. I believe we want the Chargers to lose as it gives them more incentive to play their starts vs the Broncos during the final week of the year.

Edit: Opps... must have missed this thread. My bad. : / Also got it backward. We need a Chargers win

Totally the opposite, the Chargers losing means they have no incentive to do anything but rest their starters next week.

If they win they're playing for the division and so with 14-0 Texans you can kiss the one seed goodbye.

This also increases the likelihood the Chargers are our first round matchup in the wildcard round in the 7 at 2 game.

well Houston has started hot this game. Their defense is going to be a headache no matter who they play and Stroud is also lighting it. up . 14-0 in less than 6 minutes !!!
