Saints fans are taking this game WAY too seriously

I often view the other teams boards of who we are playing. That Saints board is the 2nd most idiotic site I've seen since gangreenforum. They Think Springs has been starting and that they will torch "Sanders" at saftey. An excuse they use as to why they will kill us is that they killed the the Jets and we lost to them. Completely ignoring the Pats last game against the Jests of course.

Almost all of them are predicting a 10 point win or more. Which is funny because the Pats have to be completely awful for a Brady lead team to get blown out.

I hope we shut that whole fanbase up
I don't think that the Saints Fanbase will be shutting up anytime soon...

You really have to understand the Saints fanbase's perspective. The city really revolves around the team. Assistant Water Boys are recognized on the street, not just the players. When the team loses, productivity on Monday drops drastically. The city (and a lot of businesses) actually shut down a lot of offices today in anticipation of the game. Despite being known for losses more than wins and a poor won/loss record, the Saints have one of the best attendance histories of all NFL franchises.

The city quite literally lives and breathes Saints football.

With all the excitement of the franchises first really, really good team facing what many consider to be the gold standard of the NFL is it really any wonder we're so goofy? In the old NFC West, the seasons were always made better if we were able to beat the 49ers no matter the record. This is really no different.

I would expect of all franchises to understand what it means to suddenly be very good after being known for mediocrity in it's best seasons, it would be Pats fans.

No... they dont.

I dont think I've seen one poster on their board that is predicting they put up less than 35 on us. While they are capable of doing so, they are ALL assuming it will happen. They're also going on and on about crowd noise as if we don't play in Indy all the time. I had 3 different people this morning tell me the Pats were going to get their asses kicked Monday night when they saw my Pats stuff on my car. They are too over confident for that franchise.

If the Saints' only problem was putting less than 35 up on the Pats.... the Pats still would have lost.

Drew Brees.

158.3 QB rating.

PERFECT. JUST LIKE 18-1, right?

your team should make the superbowl for once before you start making fun of teams for losing one. Watch the post-game celebrations of Super Bowl XXXVI, that's the closet you'll get to seeing the Lombardi raised in your stadium

A la Wikipedia: In 1980, the Saints lost their first 14 games, prompting local media personality Bernard "Buddy D" Diliberto to advise Saints supporters to wear paper bags over their heads at the team's home games; many bags rendered the club's name as the "'Aints" rather than the "Saints." The practice of wearing a bag over one's head then spread rapidly, first to fans of other poorly-performing teams within the NFL, and ultimately to those of other American team sports, and has become a firmly-established custom throughout the United States.

... wait! The Patriots did *LOSE* to the team that once wore bags, right?

Hey, congrats on your win. You have a very good team.

With that said, if all you're going to do is stir people up on this board, then GFY. We have our own fanbase stirring crap up. We don't need any help

+1. The Saints did everything we were supposed to and in a sadistic manner, it was impressive to watch them dismantle the Patriots today.

**** stirrers make it hard to root for your team in the future if that's what you plan on doing.

Yep, here come the tough guys that didn't have the stones to show up before the game.

The Superbowl is in Miami this year?

It's still too early to talk about SB's but realistically the AFC Champ is one from Pats, Colts, Chargers. We needed a win of this calibre to give us hope for the rest of the season and the playoffs.

Anyway you as Pat's fans can't have it both ways. You can't anoint yourself the gold standard and then get upset when a fanbase is pumped to beat you. You get upset if someone mentions THIS season but yet are first one to shoot the Saints history (which IS bad!!) and the fact that you've won SB's.

You lot may have been spoiled in the last decade but I'm sure there are a few old boys who remember when you didn't have Bill, Brady et al. You weren't always a superpower.

Just let us enjoy our moment for the time being and then feel free to gloat later on eh folks. Good luck the rest of the season and who know's a rematch may well be on the cards.

.

ummm, try not to lump us all into that group

Sorry man, I don't mean to sound like I'm trolling, but the whole hypocrisy of it being a "what have you done for me lately" league, and then somebody throws in "how many SB's have the Saint's ever won?"

I met a fair few Pats fans in the London game, and it was nice to have some quality conversation about the NFL. I'm not going to lie, I don't "like" the Pats but I have the utmost respect for you.

Right back at ya. Im actually happy for the Saints (not last night ), as we Pats fans know all about losing. Some of the posters on here seem to think the Pats were created in 96', but alot of us 'old timers' remember. Good luck to your team, unless we meet in the SB

way to be a ****, dude. I mean you really created an account to post that after I texted you during the game and said that Brees was on another level than Brady right now?

You guys have every right to have a LOT of fun with this one, and at this point it's a bonus that a team playing as well as the Saints -- or at least their fans -- look at it as a signature game. You guys came out and did a fantastic job, and the Pats came out and looked the part of "just another team" getting steamrolled.

For the Pats, it's a matter of hoping it comes together in the next 4 games, and for the Saints it's a matter of keeping the edge.

Hats off. You guys, the Colts, and the Vikings are the class of the league right now. The Colts game 2 weeks ago looked to me like a typical, hard-fought Colts-Pats battle. This one looked like a very good team (NO) beating the hell out of a neighborhood bully that can reign over its own division but isn't a good bet to go deep into the playoffs.

Caveat: Unless things improve, bien sur.

Honestly, I was completely wrong about this. The saints really fed off the fans last night you could tell how fired up everyone was and it made a huge difference, especially once Brady threw that ******ed interception. I think I really needed to get myself in a hate mode, but the saints are not an easy team to hate. They are by far the best team in the league right now.

In all fairness, he was responding to (an apparent) Saints troll who felt it was relevant to trash talk about our 18-1 season. It wasn't just "thrown in there" to be disrespectful to Saints fans.

Congrats on the win. The Saints are a great team. We haven't been dominated in all 3 phases like that in a long time. You guys proved that you're one of the elite teams this season. Enjoy and good luck the rest of the way.

as a saints fan, i want to tell pats fans thank you. as a long time saints fan, even though this was a regular season game, it was so much more to the who dat nation. our past has been plagued by poor players, poor coaching, poor decisions, and poor records. who can forget us trading an entire draft for ricky williams. this year is different though. we have beaten some teams that were SUPPOSED to be super bowl contenders but have since had trouble finding ways to win games. this was a game of legitimacy. a game to prove that we CAN beat a legitimate contender. you all should appreciate that you have a legacy of winning for the last decade and are essentially the measuring stick. so yes, to beat the pats was essentially a mini-super bowl for us. hopefully, this year will not just be a blip on the radar and we can continue to provide outstanding teams. yes, we want to be like you. we want to go from repetitive poor records to actually being a respected team.

i am surprised though. i will admit, i don't like tom brady, i really don't like the pats, and the pat fans that i know are obnoxious, always making excuses for losses and bad plays. cruising your forums, i'm not seeing many excuses and that surprised me. i guess i will have to look at pat fans a little differently now. i haven't seen "well if the ref had called this play" or all the other IF excuses. what i have seen is a humble fanbase and self reflection. instead of making excuses i have seen numerous people posting that "we were beat by a better team" and "our team needs to work on this."

once again, i would like to thank everybody for the great attitude and wish you luck with the rest of your season. wish us well as our saints attempt to write history and get to our first super bowl.

Good post. I don't think there is room for excuses today, n10sivern. The Saints are the better team and prooved it- period. Pats have some work to do.

Looking forward to Vikes-Saints in the NFCCC.
