Rumors: Another WR? Plus Mankins Rubmblings

Mort reports Mankins will report NOV 24 , Vincent Jackson October 31

Jackson is reporting earlier because of his 3 game suspension. He wants those to tick off the clock before he has to play again which will be the same time as Mankins so as to get the final 6 games on his resume and thus qualify for free agency.

For another, why would the Chiefs give us their premier pass rusher for an unhappy offensive lineman looking for a big contract?

I'm presupposing that:

a) Hali won't sign an extension with the Chiefs before he hits free agency in March

b) the Chiefs slap the franchise tag on Hali to prevent him from leaving for nothing

c) similarly, the Pats franchise Mankins to prevent him from leaving for nothing

...in which case it would be unhappy player seeking big contract for unhappy player seeking big contract.

I didn't say it was realistic, just more realistic than Mankins for Ware.

Actually they were talking about a report from John Dennis about a new contract offer for Mankins which I guess was upped a bit from the previous offer and he turned it down. I didnt hear the original report because I dont listen to D & C so I dont know the specifics but it supposedly made him the 3rd highest paid O lineman in the league. I guess the speculation was if he turned that down he just didnt want to play for the Pats.

Not only that, but Hernandez and Woodhead will play in the slot. Really our receiving corp is overfilled with weapons. I dont understand all the focus on trading for a WR, and the attention in the Draft forum on the chance at taking a WR early in the draft. In the passing game, we are pretty young and pretty hard to cover.

I'm more worried about how Edelman is going to improve his game buried so deep on the chart. Last year, with Welker out, he was our #2 receiver and looked pretty decent. Now he's #4.

The trading deadline is October 19. According to the reports, Mankins isn't going to sign and report until November 16th.

Let's take one game and blow it out of proportion. I believe Moss leads the league in drops with 5. But the footy-pajama fans weren't *****ing when he short armed balls over the middle vs the Jets.

Bowe would be a good addition at the right price. Tell me who is QB's have been and that's your answer as to why he's been "bad" as a Chief. Brodie Croyle? Even Matt Cassel is a subpar NFL QB, especially with that offensive line last year. Give Bowe a somewhat decent QB and he flourishes.
