Rumor or Speculation (IDK): Patriots shopping Amendola

And the odds are that he won't make it to the first exhibition game.

Like they are against any other player who has never played in the NFL. That doenst stop rookies from outplaying vets across the league every year.

I'll stand by what i said. If we can trade Amendola for anything valuable im all for it. Provided we sign Edelman.

You gotta love how we over-analyze things. Edelman and Amendola play the same position; the Patriots can't pay both starters money. They see Edelman as the better player and probably believe they can resign him before free agency. Should we then be surprised the Patriots are interested in trading Amendola?

And?

10 char

Why does everyone on this forum love Moe (or for that matter, any small white WR in the vein of Welker, Edelman, Amendola)? His college highlights aren't even impressive.

Patsfans...25000 + members

three or four members love Moe

24,996 + members really don't care one way or the other

This does NOT equate to "all".

No, but it should stop posters from saying silly things like

TJ Moe will make Amendola expendable

when the guy's never seen a meaningful NFL game.

So, provided they keep someone who can do at least some of what Amendola can do (who can do some of what Welker could do) you're willing to get rid of Amendola and hope a UDFA can step in and get the job done in his first year on an NFL field.

That's awesome, because Brady really needs to have yet another new guy in the slot, especially if he can get one who doesn't know what the hell he's doing.

The Amendola answer is coming on March 11th, right? that's when 2 mil of his 3.5 is paid out or guaranteed or something...until then, this speculation will rage like a wildfire in Southern California. Edelman's situation is all market dependent. So far, it looks like he MAY have priced himself out of NE if he goes for market value.

10 more days and this picture should be clearer IMO.

Amendola at least knew the offense we were running from his time in St. Louis. TJ Moe would step in and be clueless.

Hey guys - do you think we should trade TJ Moe for a 3rd or hold out for a 2nd rounder?

Moe reminds me of Sean Morey, a draft pick from Brown about 15 years ago. Maybe a special teams contributor in the future.

Right i forgot i had to submit you my opinion before i post. Sorry, wont happen again.

But yeah, provided they keep the guy who just had more than 100 catches last year, i am willing to get rid of someone who was a complete non-factor last year because I believe he will be a non-factor again.

No, we should hold on to him and team him up with Dan Curley the TE and Larry Fitzgerald...the Stooge Offense..........

Start a Poll! List the rounds but don't forget "Our starting slot receiver" as a choice

Bishop to Morey pre-season fireworks!
Every summer I get jacked & pumped with binks and again forget that playing against fall season landscape workers does not mean success in the NFL.
This summah will be no different! Bring it!

The point is not about Moe, or at least shouldnt. Its about whether Amendola can be replaced or not. And i happen to think he will be sooner rather than later.

I happen to think Moe can and will contribute . Others dont and thats fine, you dont have to.

And i like Amendola and think he is worthy of that contract, if healthy, which he proved once again he cant be. If he stays(the likely thing to happen) then great, lets all hope he has a great season.

There's nothing wrong with having an opinion, but having some reality to base it in is usually a smart move. Here's a simple exercise:

Go back to, say, 2010, and compile a list of all the UDFA WRs signed by teams in the NFL. Then, right underneath it, compile a list of all those above who had 54 catches or more in their first year on the field.

Bam Childress says 'hi'. That guy rocked preseason.

He could have been the next Troy Brown - if only the coach let him play more in the regular season games.

Indianapolis doesn't believe you.

Neither do the Bills, who saw their home opener ruined...

I actually think Moe will be fortunate to make the practice squad.

2012 – Jamie Ebert
2013 – TJ Moe
2014 – White WR X who we will anoint the next great slot receiver

Moe missed his year and once the seventh round of the draft and UDFA signings take place this season he will be fighting an uphill battle.
