Rumor: Larry Fitzgerald to the Pats

God, I hope this is true. Who would we trade for him? I suspect Amendola would be part of the trade package along with maybe a first or a second?

I saw bruce arians yelling at fitzgerald during the broncos game...not sure if there is anything there though

Fitzgerald seem to be a shell of himself at this point. I would be kinda leery of trading for him and his salary unless they get him for a low draft pick. He is 31 and may be close to being done.

EDIT: His base salary this year is next to nothing this year. Makes it more likely to trade for him, but I still think it is doubtful.

He has no QB to throw him the ball...

I would love getting him here for sure.

But I wouldn't count on it.

So THAT'S why Browner was absent today..they traded him for Fitzgerald!

Seriously though, doesn't his contract make him pretty much untradeable?

This isn't even a rumor based on any "sources" from the Patriots or anything. Just an article stating that Cardinals might want to get rid of Fitzgerald because he is payed a ****ton of money, and the Patriots releasing Thompkins. I kind of liked Thompkins. But in no way does keeping or releasing him effect the teams need for a top receiver.

He ain't comin, so I don't see the point in getting worked up over this

He has had a decent Carson Palmer last year (he passed for 4274 yards and 24 TDs) and he sucked by his standards (954 yards and 10 TDs).

Don't want to get my hopes up because most likely it won't happen but if it is true....

This year he would cost us 1 million and has n guaranteed money for the rest of his contract. I think his next year is about 8 M and then it shoots up.

It be a 1-2 year deal unless he renegotiates.

If you had Drew Stanton and Logan Thomas throwing you the ball, you would look done too. I wouldn't be leery of trading for him at all. He's exactly what the receiving corps needs and should seriously vault this team directly into instant title contention, should the OL continue to hold up. But it doesn't matter because it's probably not going to happen. Besides, didn't he just recently renegotiate just to stay in Arizona?

How many times does this rumor pop up every year?

About as likely as signing Thor or Captain America. And with less upside (except for the fictional character part).

Oddly enough, I was actually talking about this a few weeks ago--and yes, I understand that we go through this every single year. I just felt like this year it may be more of a possibility.
