Patriots Rumor RUMOR: Alex Highsmith?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Lol if they don’t trade him. Gonna pay a rotational guy $20m then, a guy who’s gonna want a raise too from the front office who has caved in multiple times to defenders past their prime asking for more money.

I'd much prefer to keep Boutte and get something, anything, for Hollins, Douglas, or both.

I personally don't want to trade Boutte because we need solid depth and he is still improving.
And he isn’t depth, he is one of our top 3 WRs and we use 3 WRs as a base

Barmore is signed through end of 2028. His contract is easy to cut after 2026 though. Is that what you meant?
Yes correct Ross thank you! I meant his guaranteed money for 2026-27 I think it's what 10,12 million? I know the team had an option to pick it up this offseason and I believe in March it was done. His health battle he went through of course not his fault at all.. and that was likely why he had so many pulls during the regular season.

Barmore is great player.....with caveats.
His disappearing act goes back to his days at Bama and why he dropped to the 2nd rd.
Did you see him the college playoffs his last year? He was a one man wrecking crew, literally unblockable, but motor and want to has always been a question with him.
The fact that we still talk about this years later is why he's not talked about as one of the greats, and he certainly has that ability when he wants to.
Then add in the legal issues he's had, and he's still proving to be immature and entitled.
Great player, needs to grow up once and for all and be a full time pro.
I didn't get to see his last season at Bama.. I know Saban loved him.. he had some knee issues in college and some other concerns are likely what dropped him to the second round.. your summary of him is accurate.. kid came from a tough neighborhood in Philadelphia and had to overcome alot.. you'd think on the maturity level having a mother that's a retired police officer would have had an affect on his maturity. We need to see 2023 Barmore that was the player who got the extension..

Very true, I remember we were amazing he came back so fast last year, it is easy to forget now but that was definitely not likely at all. Perhaps that caused some fatigue or inconsistent performance?

@TheRainMaker wolf is the guy who gave him the contract not so sure what's preemptive about it?
I don't think it's preemptive at all and is something you don't say about a player publicly. He's a risk and he hasn't played well enough to warrant tying up so much money at that position. If he isn't traded in training camp, I think the Pats let him walk in 2027. He'd have to duplicate 2023 in order for the Pats to second guess that.

There are some posters who get triggered if you talk bad about him, but most of the media agrees that he hasn't been playing well since the blood clots. I've posted it here before, but the media reported earlier in the season that Barmore was getting frustrated because he's having a hard time getting to QB in which Vrabel had to have a pep talk with him to not worry about it.

But he isn't the only one I'm looking at as well. For the amount of money Williams is making, he's got to step it up. His was impactful in run support, but surprisingly meh in the pass rush department. Not like it would've made much of a difference, but he was whiffing badly multiple times at Darnold in the Super Bowl.

Both he and Barmore are making way too much money to have such little production between the two of them. Posters go straight to the double team defense, but there are many other players that are fighting through it and making an impact. It's just not a valid excuse.
