As we come down to cutdown days, you will hear how teams will need cap space for the 8 practice squad players, players on PUP, and players on IR and players 52 and 53. What you will not likely hear is that as teams get down to their 53-man rosters they will be creating cap space as lower-salaried players beat out more expensive players for roster spots.

For example, in Derek Haven's latest roster projection

11 players whose salaries are not currently counting against the cap make the team displacing 11 players with higher salaries.

Nice reminder. Stuff like this and the in season PUP rule should be a READ ME sticky on this site.

Regarding the roster prediction - Why would anyone suggest cutting Mark Harrison? Keep him on PUP and in 6 weeks you have a fresh player ready to prove himself, especially if another WR gets hurt. If everyone else is healthy you IR him.

I still can't understand why anyone would suggest or think that the Patriots would PUP Gronk. I just dont see it.

Also, where is Jake Ballard? No mention of him at all, on the roster, being cut or anything. Did the writer forget he is in camp?
