What road games have you attended?

Any tales good or bad? Recommendations. Tips or heads up for others should they attend.

Me? Ive been to 7 Super Bowls - 38, 39, 42, 46, 49, 52, 53. Quite frankly, I was tired of going to them and it was a relief when the dynasty crashed. I drove to every SB and never had a problem finding lodging and not for crazy prices either. Typically i always arrived 1 week early because the SB is more than just the game. I had a firm price that I would pay for a Super Bowl ticket and did not deviate from it. I made it inside to only 2 of the 7 Super Bowls - both Giants- both losses. Great seats for both games.

SB 42, I sat at the 50 yard line 3rd level. Which was like 2nd level in other stadiums because the Cardinals playing field is sunk down below the ground elevation. I met a character from Boston whose father was on the Red Sox ground crew. This guy never met a stranger in his life He met a real nice couple from Baltimore and the husband worked for ESPN. At the very last minute he had to work and he sold me his ticket. Face value was $700 and he sold it to me for $1000 which was a bargain.

Before the season began, I placed a bet in Vegas on a Pats SB win. I was 2 minutes away from cashing in. I was going leave AZ driving North across the Hoover dam (never been) and on to Vegas to collect and head home. Its a long drive and even longer when you're the losing team.

SB 46, I sat in the Loge section approximately 35 yard line. With a bunch of Giants fans, but they were mostly good people. One guy was a cop, so he wasnt a jackass like some NY fans. I bought my ticket 15 minutes prior to KO. I had met a ticket broker from Canada and had given him my number. I was heading to a bar to watch the game when he called. He sold me a $900 face value ticket for $1000. Great deal. I beat feet to the stadium and made it for kickoff.

I spent a lot of time at the media hotel. Find the media hotel if you go to a SB. I was inside mulling around and Drew Brees walked right past me. I didnt say anything, but got the impression that he isnt that social. I met Moose Johnson waiting for a ride to an interview and Jon Gruden waiting outside too. Both really nice people. Adam Schefter walked past me. I saw Jared from Subway acting like douche which makes sense now after they threw him in jail.

My Super Bowl tips.
1 Try to get there early.
2 Network with people if you need a ticket.
3 Find the media hotel. Hit the bar for a drink.
4 Beware of crooks. Every scammer in the country is working the Super Bowl.

I'll try to keep mine brief. Here goes:

I've been to 5 SBs and I do a regular season road trip just about every year sometimes multiple.

I'm 4-1 in SBs having seen 36, 38, 39, 42, and 51.

The best one experience wise was easily 36. You just can't beat celebrating on Bourbon St. Walking up and down the street with my father and 2 large duffle bags full of all the swag we could find is just about as good as memories get. We found so much stuff we had to buy the bags just to carry it all.

Plus the night before the game we attended a WEEI party which was fun but on our way we had some time to kill and while looking for SB merch we just randomly walked into the team hotel and Saw several Patriots and their families. We stayed mostly quiet and didn't bother anyone. We gave a couple of good lucks and snapped a few photos with disposable cameras. Seymour, Willie, Cox, and Charles Johnson. Seymours nephew was funny he was so proud and told us who his uncle was like we didn't know.

Deciding between going to New Orleans or Tennessee for this year's trip. This post definitely has me leaning one way lol.

I would avoid Philly for a road game....
I have been avoiding it lol. I've probably been to about 2/3 of the stadiums so I'll probably eventually check it out but who knows when.

I would skip Jax too. Unless you stay out at the beach. Who knew

When I was younger I wanted to see the Pats when they would come to California, but never was able to do it. I've only been to Chargers, Rams and Raiders games. It got to a point where I'd rather watch the games at home anyways.

Only player I met was Julius Jones when he was a rookie in 2004. My friend grew up in Dallas, so his Dad wanted to take us out there to attend a Cowboys game. We were hanging out in the mall when I saw Jones waiting outside a sports apparel store. He hadn't played a game yet, so I asked when was he going to play? He told me he was making his debut Monday night against the Eagles and the team wanted to announce it at the very last second. It was cool to have intel before the media did.

Just regular season games unfortunately

2005 at Pittsburgh:

Had eggs thrown at me in the parking lot
Several people got in my face throughout the day, a 50 ish yr old woman put her middle finger inches from my face while walking by
Some dude assaulted a garbage can while staring me down after the game (AV game winner as time expired)
I kinda get the feeling that Steeler fans don’t like us.

2002 at buffalo (one of the bledsoe bowl games) :

LOTS of pats fans, lots of fights too
Sat next to some really cool pats fans and bills fans
I kinda dig their stadium, half of it seemed like it was underground somehow if I remember right.

2010 at Cleveland, rather forget this day

First off NOLA & Nashville is no contest. Second, if you really want to catch a game in Nashville wait for the new stadium to open. The current one is a characterless pile of cement

I've been to Nashville too and my brothers and friends get a vote too so we'll see.

No one ever has to explain repeat trips to NOLA to me. I'm curious though, why would anyone who has been to that soulless stadium in Nashville want to do it again? I have a close friend who lives there and for years we alternated visits. His business holds a block of season tickets so if there was a game when we visited them we'd go but I'd never make a trip to Nashville just to see a game there. There was a great German place across from the Stadium though, almost made it worth it.

Come on down, I’ve got a portable generator and we can all tailgate! There is a Pats fan bar somewhere downtown too somewhere. Also, the new stadium is going up quick, it’s going to be nice.

I hear you on ****sburg. When the boys were younger we tried to make it to at least one road football and baseball game a year. Pittsburgh was the only place that I ever truly felt we were at any real risk as visiting fans. Hostile and threatening is putting it mildly

We made repeated Buffalo trips. Hella game day experience. The stadium leaves a lot to be desired amenity wise but great sight lines and the atmosphere was reminiscent of Schaefer in the 70's glory days except possibly even less sober, the place was humming though. The tailgating atmosphere was second to none. Camden Yards was the best visiting experience for us in baseball. They really got that place right, it's a gem

I think Nola will win out but we got to see how the schedule actually plays out and who can go to either based on personal schedules. Can always just do both. The stadium is a crappy version of Gillette but it's a fun town.

Eagles fans were mostly good at SB38. Every time one spouted off about the Eagles winning a Pats fan would tell them that NE does not lose big games. I met Jim Kelly at the Amsterdam Bar directly across from a stadium entrance. Huge, built like a LB. Day of the game I drove down and parked 2 blocks from the stadium for free. Ticket prices were crazy ($1700 and higher) and there were rumors of fakes floating around. So, I watched the game at the Amsterdam along with other NE fans. 2 brothers from around Boston were there for entertainment. They were hilarious. Short guys and one had been at Yankee stadium for the Pedro opting to stay in the game loss. He was there all by himself arguing with Yankee fans. Surrounded, he challenged them all to a fight because they were laughing at him.

@ SB52 Eagles fans were more dooshy. One tried to run me off the sidewalk by walking directly at me. Giants fans attempt the same game of intimidation. Its sad that they are so insecure and live through their football team. Day of the game I drove down to the stadium and parked across the street for free. Tried to get a ticket, but $3000 was the lowest and it was nosebleed. Eventually pulled up stakes and went back to the bar and grill near the hotel. Low and behold, I wound up watching the game with Snoop Dogs body guards.

I went to SB 53 it was amazing. Great stadium in Atlanta — seems like a classy franchise.

Been to away games in Carolina people are very cool lots of fun.
The stadium is nice, but not in the best part of town. Atlanta built a new NFL and MLB stadium at the same time. Most cities cant get 1 stadium going.

I have been to quite a few stadiums as well.

Tennessee is a candidate

I've been to Pittsburgh at least 3 times.

Its sort of a nice city. Primattis Brothers is good and the Strip on the weekends is a very cool area. The fans are butt hurt and mostly unsociable. I suppose that I cant blame them with Brady owning the Steelers and Tomlin for a HC. I would be irritable too with Fred Sanford coaching the Pats year after year. They have playoff losing down to a science.

Never been to Buffalo, but can only imagine being around those drunken Bozos. The losing franchises is where you see the most trouble. Which would explain Cleveland.

Buff was one of my first road trips and the city has its charm and the stadium despite being old wasn't that bad. Good sightlines like most old stadiums. I'll probably check out the new one once. But the problem is they are a bunch of drunk A-holes. I'm mostly done with that scene.

For me the worst one I've been too was San Diego. Great weather and hard to beat the city at least back then. But going to a game there actually felt a little dangerous and very much different than Buffalo. Buff they were just ****s Chargers stadium felt like you might get robbed or stabbed.

I never did Oakland or Philly though.
