And he also had a long way to jump. Buffalo fans were calling for his and the GM’s head for the first two years… they were calling him a bust.

Mac was better than Allen as a rookie… he doesn’t have as far to jump to improve.

I saw that previously, thanks for posting. I thought it was a bit of a “hit piece” with stuff I disagreed with, but thought the summary about BB’s asst. coaches this year was interesting if provocative: “He’d rather work with people he’s comfortable with, be they his least successful former assistants or his literal children.” I’m not sure that is an accurate way to portray Judge and Patricia (they were certainly successful with the Pats), but to tell the truth I’ve wondered if at this stage of his career BB does feel that he has earned the right to work with his kids and closest pals. Of course, if they do the job, then no problem.

I came to this thread to read up a bit on the Board’s opinion of the offensive play calling / coaching in general and the Ringer article specifically, and instead many of the posts seemed to be focused on mud slinging or a response to the mudslinging.

Back to the subject, what does the board think of the play calling (including at least some movement toward a new Shanahan type system) and offensive coaches this year?

My two cents: working one-on-one with a primarily defensive coach (BB) certainly helped TB become who he became, so Mac with Patricia sounds good in theory. And, the Shanahan system DOES in theory seem perfect for Mac (why 49ers almost drafted him). I just worry this is throwing a lot at a second year QB and an OL mostly playing new positions. I think we may have to be patient, it may be a bit rocky early.

It is a hit piece.
Belichick has ALWAYS employed people he is comfortable with that came up through his ranks and that he personally trained. This is no different.
As far as the offense, there is no “new scheme”. McD left so they streamlined the terminology which is natural after having the same coordinator for so long.
They MIGHT run more outside zone runs. They have always run them. Changing the proportion because you feel your personnel could be well suited for them us not a new scheme.
This “new scheme” has been the biggest joke of a topic in years.

These people see things like this:
Belichick is doing something unusual, so if it fails this will finally be the thing that proves the most successful coach ever is a fraud.
The entitled feel he is taking their team and robbing them of the right to have Adam Gaze come in and create a bottom 5 offense for us.
They wallow in the failure of their own lives, so trying to knock down Belichick makes them feel better. “See successful people really just suck”

If you are fine with it, it's ok, in this case. I don't know what "agenda" you think I have, but if your best argument over what i said is being "pro" nepotism, I'll answer it afterwards.

Corruption comes in many way, including being instinctively biased towards your kin. It is almost expected. This does not change just bc it's the Patriots and BB. But I can rephrase it, if it's the term that bother you: "the biggest reason they are on the coaching staff for the first place, it's because of his dad" or however you want.

It is a private USA business. I seem to remember you live in Europe? In the USA we have "at will" labor laws so the employees can leave and find another job, or the employer can fire the employee, at any time. There is no corruption in an "at will" employment situation. I think you are confused. This is a single individual, privately owned USA corporation which is an "at will" employer. Maybe you do not understand that? Your claim of nepotism is completely errant, but maybe unintentionally. Private companies in the USA commonly employee family members of the owner and managers, it is very common. It is not nepotism. I assume since it is not nepotism, but you claim it is nepotism, that you have an agenda, but maybe you do not understand. You might not agree with the legal basis, but that is the system in the USA, and accordingly nepotism is not involved in hiring family members of the owner or management. Jonathan Kraft is an employee, and that is not nepotism. It is not a matter of me being fine with it, it does not exist.

You can say the Robert Kraft is instinctively biased towards his son, Jonathan, and I agree. But that is not nepotism in a private USA corporation. Yes, I agree the biggest reason that Jonathan Kraft is the president of the New England Patriots is because his Dad, Robert Kraft, owns the team. This is true. So what? That bothers you?

The Pats coaching staff has always been "Pats centric". Not sure why that is a negative. The Krafts are a family business and loyal to their employees so most employees stick around or return. Dante Scarnecchia was with the Pats for 20+ years with little outside experience. Does that mean he is limited in his ability to coach?

The truth is I didn't really understand your other points. The Pats have always had the same guys. Noone seemed upset when Josh failed as the Denver head coach and returned. So I did not understand your point. So that is why I assumed it was BS while getting to your nepotism final point.

Elam's camp has been up and down, and he has been unable to take the lead in the battle for the No. 2 corner job opposite Tre'Davious White, who is still on PUP and rehabbing from a torn left ACL. Elam remains behind 2020 seventh-round pick Dane Jackson on the depth chart, while fellow rookie and sixth-round pick out of Villanova, Christian Benford, has impressed, giving Elam more of a challenge.

That’s ESPN’s view on Elam. If that’s getting an A grade from Bleacher Report, then they better be giving out some A+++++ grades for the guys that have actually exceeded expectations so far.
