As I was leaving, we picked up a starting kicker, a starting gunner (and veteran backup safety). I get back to find that we solidified our DL through 2009, and we still have $12M or so still available for extensions and free agents.

And the hand wringing posts seem almost all gone!

The question remains, how will be spend this money ? Law ? Arrington ? A few more smaller signings ? Re-doing Branch, Koppen, Graham, Samuel ? I vote for the latter.

Another choice is to restructure contracts to bring more money from teh future in to 2006. I see no reason not to bring in Law.

I think that it is not an either-or. Extensions will get done if they can. They can easily be brought under the 2006 cap, and still have whatever is needed for free agents.

Personally, I would like us to solidify the OL by extending Koppen and Hochstein. Graham would be an excellent extension. His issue is that he has been injured a lot.

I don't think Branch is doable; he can much more elsewhere (or he will at least think he can). My hunch has been that Samuel is a fine value, but doesn't fit in to the patriot's future.

And yes, I see a trade in the next two weeks.

Branch himself said he isn't a true #1. i can see him re-signing with the pats for Wayne-type money. Same as Sey, give him a 3yr extention thru 2009. With his build, I can see him doing it. Fear of injury has to be a concern for him.

I can see trading a 2nd rd or later given the limit on the number of years they can be signed for. When will the Packers decide Walker won't be back? Day of the draft?

Here we go again - the "twig" knows how to fall and get small, runs as precise routes as anyone, has a sense of what adjustment to make, has the rare ability to accelerate coming out of a cut or break, catches just about everything, is totally in sync with Brady - plays very tall in big games.

SIGN D. BRANCH........do not even think of screwin around.
