Bill O'Brien was OC in 2011 and he maintained play calling duties through Super Bowl XLVI.

Arguably he was dividing his time, since Penn State hired him on Jan 7.

Josh McDaniels worked for the Rams in 2011. He did re-join the Patriots in the 2011 playoffs, as an offensive assistant, after the Rams fired Steve Spagnuolo as head coach and advised Josh that there was no guarantee that the next head coach would retain him.

repeating, Bill O'Brien called plays in that SB. Did Josh help with the game plan? Maybe. To blame him for the loss is absurd.

Not sure what the histories of the teams have to do with current state/personnel, but ok.

Rodgers in his prime.. hmmm.. ok again.

Am I really the only person who believes, and had also said at the time, that the Aaron Rodgers extension is one of the worst, most pointless, idiotic deals in the history of sports? Two years left on his current deal, zero leverage, yet they give him a new $80M check to spread huge caps hits into multiple years, giving themselves no way out of the contract, all to ensure he's "locked up" at age 41? I have still not heard a single logical reason why the Packers should have extended Rodgers and made him the highest paid QB in the game again, and I have no idea why this move wasn't ridiculed as mind-boggling stupid. The Packers front office is stupid and caved to their fanboy Rodgers worshipping over basic business principles, and Rodgers is greedy and egotistical. Mike McCarthy took the fall for both of these parties participating in in a batsh1t crazy contract move this offseason.

If McKid wasn't interested I'd question his passion and motivation.

Sounds to me like McDaniels is interested in the Packers job.
We could very well lose him

I think J.Mac signed his multi million/year contract to stay in NE or why else commit to it and especially with TB years dwindling down. Although with Brady he may outlast J.Mac's contract.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are tempting I think Robert thinks highly of Josh and won't let him go without trying his best to keep him.

I wouldn't. He likely is BB's successor and I'm not sure being the fall guy for Rodgers demise is a great opportunity. His next head coaching gig will likely be his last so it would be wise to pass on the green bay job.

Aaron Rodgers is not one of the best QB's in history. Where did you come up with that?

Aaron Rodgers was changing the calls, so maybe that's the problem.

He is, but it’s the kind of greatness that will get trampled over as many others pass him going forward. As of this moment he is among the greatest, but statistical greatness has a short shelf life. People don’t forget about rings and legendary Super Bowl moments though. When Steve Young retired there was serious debate about who was greater between Young (stat king) and Montana (championships). Well, who is arguing for Young now? At that time, too, no one thought you could play the QB position better than Young. Rodgers is Young 2.0.

Great comparison. Young's regular season record is 94-49 and Rodgers' is 98-55-1. Both have only 13 4QC's in their entire careers and are barely over .500 for the playoffs, 8-6 for Young and 9-7 for Rodgers. They each had one good playoff run and the rest of their playoffs were lousy. I can probably name a lot of QB's that I would rather have than those two.

I’ve thought for a long time that Steve Young is one of the most overrated QBs of all time, if not THE most. Great player for sure, and seems like a good person, but not deserving of all of the “one of the best ever” adulation.

And if I were mean I’d say something about the BOTOX but I’m not so I won’t.

You get chances to win rings with a great quarterback, not a guarantee. If Adam Vinatieri misses field goals or Malcolm Butler doesn't intercept the ball, or the Falcons call run plays, maybe Tom Brady only has one ring.

I get it. This board has a general complex when it comes to Aaron Rodgers because everyone's deeply insecure about Brady's "legacy" for some bizarre reason, but Rodgers is a tremendous quarterback. And McCarthy's playcalling was definitely holding him back.
