REPORT: Josh Allen is Dealing With An Elbow Injury

It's surprising that more TJ injuries don't occur in football considering how many times a QB's arm is jammed by a 300+ lb lineman just at the max loading point.
You’ll start to see more of them as the ridiculous rules surrounding where defenders are allowed to hit opposing QBs continue to drag out. More shoulder separations, too, if I had to guess.

What is it that leads you to this?

I said so in my previous post - tacklers are actively being taught to go after/reach for the QB’s arm when he’s in a throwing motion instead of hitting him. Can’t hit him high, can’t hit him in the legs. The target area is so small that it makes more sense to try and affect the throw. Unfortunately, bad things happen to the elbow or the shoulder when they are hit like that. That’s exactly what happened to Allen, and it will happen to more.

Now, the NFL can do one of two things about this. The smart thing would be to tell their referees to stop reflexively blowing the whistle if the QB is hit high or in the legs. The dumb thing, and what the NFL will more than likely do, is make contacting the quarterback’s arm while he’s in a throwing motion, a penalty.

huh? if the refs are flagging defensive players for landing with their full weight on QBs, which is typically where and how shoulder separation injuries occur, wouldn't you think the opposite is true?

No, because I’ve separated my shoulder in a very similar way to how Allen got hit.

Wednesday morning, NFL Network reported that the injury is not expected to be "major" but his availability for Sunday is still up in the air.

"Josh Allen believed to be dealing with an elbow sprain, a UCL sprain, which is something actually he has had in the past," NFL insider Ian Rapoport said Wednesday morning. "Not considered to be a major, major injury. Which means the belief is that it is something he can play through.

By shoulder separation you do mean the AC joint injury, and not something else, correct?

at any rate, i hope not.

No. I mean a separation. Falling on it is the most common way to separate a shoulder, but not the only way. Test it for yourself if you’d like. Just do it slowly so you don’t hurt yourself. If you have someone in your home that can hold your arm back, that works best. If not, go into a open doorway and pin your elbow against the drywall. Then, start twisting your upper body as if you’re going into a throwing motion until you can’t do it anymore. You’ll feel it in two areas - the rotator cuff and the area between your collar bone and shoulder blade. That’s where a separation occurs.

I’ve had two of them - the first in High School and the second in a rear end collision where that arm was resting on the steering wheel and the rest of my body jolted forward. Got surgery on it after that. Good move, too. Aside from some stiffness when it rains or gets cold out, it’s like a brand new shoulder. I’ve been training in BJJ for six months now and have not had a single issue yet.

The joint between the collarbone and the shoulder is the AC joint, which is what I was referring to... so same thing...

I hope you are wrong, because those would be some wild ass hits needed to damage the shoulder (in a non- ground impact scenario) of what are generally large, strong individuals... i'd be more than a little pissed off if a hit like that took out Mac or Bailey...

I think Josh Allens injury was a fluke thing... There was probably some partial tearing going on there, which got exacerbated by the hit... as Mac Rebbenack used to sing ?right place, wrong time? ... or some variation thereof

Players have gone on NFL Radio saying they are actively aiming for the throwing arm to avoid a penalty. Dak’s hand injury was a similar situation. Barrett could have clobbered him between the numbers, but went after the arm instead.

In any event, I should revise my earlier post to say that rotator cuff injuries and dislocations will probably happen more often than outright separations. Those in and of themselves can be bad.

Interesting theory.

Typically they do get knee jerk and do dumb things I can't imagine making it illegal to strip. That's way to exciting of a play. Plus the ladies got to pay tuition somehow.

Falling on the floor while jerking off is hardly similar to how Allen got hurt.
I mean if his arm was moving in a very fast trajectory and then another man slammed into it while in motion, I can kind of see some similarities here.

That’s why I no longer participate in circle jerks.

Since this thread has somehow gone off topic....

I got one of those Fitbit bracelets. Jerked off for almost 6 miles today.
