Remember Wolf isn't a GM, hes a talent scout

There are a lot of knee jerk reactions. Some are valid and some aren’t. It never fails to see half the board here freak out over a pick and then a day or 2 later we get “upon further review…yeah maybe that pick wasn’t so bad”.

I started the thread because so many posters were pizzing and moaning about the job wolf was doing with the lack of spending on FA or the lack of trades on draft day, or his picks in general after Maye. I'm just pointing out that hes never been a gm before. Being a GM is a lot different than being a scout.

I understand. And also to your point yeah I’m disappointed in the lack of high quality signed FA’s…but we’re onto the draft the past few days.

Nobody was talking about picks here. Give it a rest.

Yes, exactly this.

This is a draft and FA that appears more like a team that thinks they're a couple players away, rather than a team that needs to desperately add sheer talent.
Honestly, if this were true, we wouldn't be drafting guards when we have depth.

They are now trying to upgrade positions like guard. Sow, Onwenu, Robinson, Mafi, Strange, Andrews. Only 2 of these guys are going to start.

You take Robinson there (103) because you expect him to start. This relegates Sow and Strange into backups.

You're drafting guards that you think can play tackle, as well, as opposed to, you know, just drafting a tackle.

Why shouldn't we draft BPA if we are in a long term rebuild?
Completely agree! You build talent by taking bpa. We have seen drafting for need fail spectacularly

NKeal Harry
Isauah Wynn
Mac Jones
Cole Strange
Tyquan Thornton
etc.

Lokk at Andy Reid he drafts bpa and has built a deep and talented team

Once again I have to agree. The Patriots haven’t been able to win anything since Wolf took over. We all gave him a fair chance to see what he could do and they are still winless.

This fan base has to be the most thoughtful and reasonable in all of pro sports.

WTF are you talking about Sam? I made that exact same argument to you last year during the draft and you were furious they didn’t take an OT, and drafted Gonzalez when he was clearly the best player on the board and the tackles sucked. And you griped about it all season.

Not only are we not drafting BPA, but posters are saying that is not what we should do. Maybe if the GM is chasing a ring and thinks a R2 guy will help, then maybe. In a multiple year rebuild like the Pats are in, to not draft BPA is silly. They are drafting to fit their new system. It is criminal we did not draft Cooper or Kool-aid. Could have drafted a WR in R3 and R4.

Sam learned from his mistakes?

I have to agree. Our winning record since he took over as GM has been atrocious.

I understand the doubters. And sure you can question individual picks of this player vs that player. But the philosophy of the draft so far is spot on in addressing what the Patriots needed the most - QB, OL, WR.

With this being his first year in charge of the draft, we're going to have to see what the results are. Training camp is going to be a big indicator. If he hits on Maye (key) and say half of his other picks, we've got a really good start to the rebuild.

They will never admit it
They will just go into the “yeah but they could have got ………….. mode

I have come around to your way of thinking. You are right
