Reiss's mention about the way Belichick wore the Kraft family initiative pin

Bill almost certainly never had a close relationship with any of the players - he might have to cut them. He was not in the business to make friends - he was in it to win games - what he was paid for. Many retired players say he then becomes much warmer. And anecdotes of Belichick doing incredibly kind and thoughtful things for others abound. The man deserves far better than this crap

I think this raises a good point about the prudence of requiring any kind of statement on apparel. I know people who are pro Palestinian that might not be keen on wearing an antisemitism pin (and yes, I know one can be against antisemitism and pro Palestinian, but someone might suspect that an antisemitism pin suggests support for Israel's policies in current time), people who would not want to wear a cross or rainbow flag or BLM apparel (not because of racism but because of attitudes toward many profiting off of BLM), and so on. A person shouldn't b eput in a place where their motives for not participating in something can be held against them without being known, when the cause is not directly related to the job they are doing.
I don't know how deep BBs involvement/interest/support in Serbian politics runs but I found this article interesting.

Although Serbs and Jews might have stood together throughout history, political relations between Serbia and Israel significantly deteriorated in 2020 after the Jewish state recognized Kosovo, the Serbian breakaway province that unilaterally declared independence in 2008. But in spite of that, Belgrade openly sided with Israel in its war against Hamas, even though there are no indications that the United States’ major non-NATO ally plans to change its policy regarding Kosovo.

There’s something to this, but not enough info to really draw any conclusions, in my opinion.

I didn't know what forum to place this in, and though it skirts around politics, it really has no politics in it and it doesn't necessitate ANY discussion of politics whatsoever. There's also a WAR thread so other things can be discussed there.

During Kraft's press conference with Jerod Mayo upon Mayo's hiring, Kraft made mention of how Mayo conducted himself during their trip to Israel. There are several mentions by Reiss and by Kraft in recent weeks about the importance of Kraft's antisemitism initiative for him and in general his Pro-Israel stances. At the same time Reiss wrote something weird about Belichick's firing by Kraft recently. Indeed, he lead off his article about Belichick getting fired by highlighting the way Belichick wore an antisemitism pin. It was a weird way to start. When you lead with an anecdote like that, if you're a good writer, you're leading with something that you believe is very meaningful in the larger scheme. Reiss was telling us that there's a certain level of disrespect between the two men, and he was also telling us that Belichick's behavior was actually quite callous. (Note, I am not saying that Belichick's wearing of the pin to the side of his stomach means anything about his political position or antisemitism; I'm saying it possibly had something to do with his feelings toward Kraft).

But I note that many players have made that trip to Israel with Kraft, and I just checked and there's no mention of Belichick ever doing it. When Reiss asked Belichick about the pin on the side of his belly, he just said, "This is Robert Kraft's initiative." Not, I support what the pin symbolizes. This was all in the back of mind, and I really thought that Reiss's mention was strange, but I didn't make much of it. But just now, Kraft noted that Mayo in Israel convinced him to hire Mayo. In this moment with everything going on, did Belichick's callousness to Robert's causes and the fact he never went with the Krafts on these visits just add to Kraft's sense that he couldn't employ someone who was wishy-washy about certain world concerns right now?

Yes, I opened up a can of worms. But this is more personal than it is political.

Belichick is a football coach, not a public relations guy.

Why don’t Kraft take his pin’s to local colleges & see what type of warm welcome he gets.

If I was Belichick & I knew I was about to be fired, I would tell Kraft to stick his pin
Where the sun don’t shine.

Belichick is not a Jew & does not need to pick a side in the fight.

It's against antisemitism, not anything else.

Belichick is of Croatian descent, not Serbian. There is quite a difference between the two.

I do not for one second believe Belichick is opposed to Kraft‘s initiative. I just think he is kind of a weird guy prone to occasional awkward episodes, nothing more, nothing less.

I wouldnt wear a pin for my employer's political causes. Its better not to wear it at all though than to wear it like he did.

My best friend is Croatian. His Dad was born in Croatia and came to Canada when he was about 20 in the late 1960’s. My friend told me there is a lot of anti-semitism amongst the older Croatians. I asked him why and he said that a long time ago the Jews controlled the banks there, and by controlling the banks they controlled who got mortgages, etc.. It lead to a lot of hatred towards the Jews and unfortunately in many cases is passed down to the next generation

Maybe he just doesn’t want to go political for a guy he no longer respects.

I think Happy Ending Kraft, lost a lot of respect at the Oasis Day Spa

That is old world stuff. Antisemitism was common everywhere including the USA with the older generation. You implied this was possibly passed onto Belichick.

Sorry, to be clear I don’t think or want to imply Bill is anti semitic.

You can find antisemitism at any local college these days.

Maybe Kraft should be handing out his pledge pins out at Harvard.

My bad thats right.

I don't think "opposed" is the right word. Let's say, "compelled".

Good. **** Kraft's little initiative. As if there isn't enough whiny "anti-racism", "anti-hate", or "anti-antisemitism" garbage out there already.
Funny how you left the pride flag out of your little diatribe there.....

Funny how you think my profile picture is serious. It falls under "anti-hate" anyway.
