Stallworth wouldn't do anything if we signed him now. We would be better off signing TO at this point. We should have gotten Sidney Rice or Brandon Lloyd, anyone else agree or even Braylon Edwards ? Man, we could have gotten Dez Bryant in the draft and even of traded a few draft picks for Boldin possibly

By passing on Dez Bryant multiple times, we can assume that Belichick did not feel that the potential talent was anywhere close to the problems/distractions that he's caused.

Seeing him fumble at the goal line on Sunday while half-assing it into the endzone only confirms this. Not to mention that he isn't 1/4 as bright to run the proper routes here in this complex of an offense.

Braylon Edwards? are you kidding me? No one wanted him out of 32 teams. Finally someone broke down and offered him the bare minimum approx. 1 million dollar contract. Again, not even close to the kind of player you'd want here. Too stupid, + bad attitude and legal problems.

And finally, the ARZ Cards made it quite clear that they were NEVER going to part ways with their #1 franchise player, Larry Fitzgerald...not for multiple first round picks (which BB would never have done even if it were an option, and I don't blame him) Larry Fitzgerald was NEVER once anywhere close to being on the trade block. Now you are just grasping at pipe dreams.

Maybe we should've just gone out and grabbed Calvin Johnson from the Lions too?? Damn that Bill Belichick...

I vote to pass on Stallworth. I actually found Ocho's last game to be promising.

I know it sounds like a huge stretch, but what if Ocho could at least be used to stretch the field more even as a damn decoy? At least against a team like the NYJ where we could use some movement away from the underneath routes/middle of the field more? They will need to find a way to get away from some of those dangerous middle of the field/short routes against the NYJ, particularly when you see how many balls are getting tipped, how many INT's are happening, and how much defenses are keying in on the middle of the field stuff.

I am sure that Belichick has considered it, but in this instance you may as well try to get something out of #85.

Another thought is to just throw his ass into the fire/simplify routes for him (at least on some minor level), and let him play 30 or so snaps. As crazy of an idea that it is, they'd at least be trying something different, and you never know if he may get into some type of rhythm a few times.

Of course the obvious drawback in this thinking is that you'd be taking away from a skill position player in many of the formations, and this is likely the majority of the reasoning as to why they don't do it, but then again Branch's production (17 catches in past 6 games) isn't even equalling 3 catches per game. On top of that, they don't need another short/intermediate route runner like Branch at the moment. They need to open up some lanes, some sideline routes down the field for (player x) and possibly even others. They need to find a way to get out of the middle of the field a bit, at least in my opinion. The middle of the field is obviously where their bread and butter has been, but by getting away from it at times, we'd go back to seeing those wide open guys that we've seen in the past + cut down on some of the predictibility/INT's/tipped balls.

Not to mention that it may occupy either Cromartie or Revis, which is very important in itself.

Then again, I never claimed to be an OC but it is something that I've been wondering about, particularly against a team like the Jets.

Which is almost precisely what Branch is currently getting us in the last 6 games = 2.8 catches per game. (not that I want Branch to go, just comparing numbers)

FWIW to you, I don't think bringing back Donte Stallworth would solve many problems either, but they do need to develop and use either/or Price/Ocho to some extent. Or at least offer some alternative to the predictibility of some of the short routes that are run to the middle of the field.

right now is when we need Taylor Price or Ochocinco to develop into a productive threat as branch is tapering off and the defenses are clamping down on our other receiving options.

Bruschi made an interesting point in his podcast that as Ironic as it sounds, we need ochocinco to develop into a productvie threat the 2nd half of the season because he provides us with a skillset to play the sidelines that our other WR dont have. it will open up the middle for our other WR/TE

If both Price & OchoStinko show nothing again this Sunday, then I'm all in favor of bringing in Stallworth for an interview/workout. Even Bill himself must realize by now that some form of credible deep speed is desperately needed here.

I think we are going to live or die with Ochocinco and Price this yr, at least in regards to stretching the field + keeping defenses honest with some downfield shots.

I think there will be some improvement, but agree that the situation needs addressed in the offseason.

For whatever reason (lack of better options, "complication" of routes/offense) Belichick does not seem to feel that bringing in outside help is the answer. I think he has devoted some time to #17 and #85, and feels that they can help to contribute this yr.

It's becoming more obvious, at least for me, that Brady's elbow is bothering him. His accuracy on short to medium passes is troublesome. Deep passes would be worse. He's also not pump faking. That's the best way to eliminate tipped passes. Stopping his motion mid stream may be too painful. I don't know. It's just starting to look like this may be a possibility.
