RED SOX fans vs Patriots fans

Dart...Welcome as well!!! I am not a Sox fan either...although I must say I was happy they finally won it all!! SO another 80 plus years??? My father was a Braves fan and I grew up liking the National league..and NOT the Sox...plus other things about them..including their racism..(last team to have a black player in baseball...sad!!!) That has changed, but they have raised prices almost every year..and what was a granstand seat years ago is now called a box seat...BUT I loved how the Twins used to com in and beat up on the Sox...THAT was fun!! But that was also before free agency and large salaries and..a lot of other things that to me have killed baseball. The Pats??
also rans for many years up and down..but they finally made it!!! AND BIG!!!!

Hey man, thanks for the welcome! The thing is, I don't think the Red Sox "won" the World Series as much as purchased it in free agency, and their players and management are sort of hard to warm up to. And I've lived here all my life (grew up in Billerica). I did like them back through the '80s before things changed, but I've always been a football guy first and foremost. Like I said, though, why the hell are we talking baseball when we should be talking football and the Patriots?! :rocker:

First someone calls me "elitist" while welcoming me to the board, then you call me a "nube" and accuse me of berating a "senior officer" or something like that while dropping bricks on my head. Is this the military or a messageboard for chrissakes?! Just because you've been here longer than I have doesn't make me a second-class citizen does it? I'll bet I've forgotten more about the Patriots in the last minute than you've known in your lifetime! Sheesh.

Everyone but Nut and I are missing the point of this thread.....What is the difference between sox and pats fans? This is not yet another in a string of neverending threads of Red Sox tirades. I raised some valid points last night on how fans of both teams are the same and that was COMPLETELY ignored in order to bash the sox yet again.

I've always found the hatred of the Red Sox on this board sort of funny, maybe because when I lived in MA all the Pats fans I knew were also Red Sox fans. One thing I can say is that when the Pats were winning Superbowls the Red Sox still got the majority of the talk on EEI, and that annoyed the crap out of me so I can just imagine what it would do to a Patriot fan who wasn't a Red Sox fan I mean hell just skip the Big Show at that point.

I am indeed both a huge Sox Fan and an even bigger Patriots fan.

I feel the difference between Sox fans and Patriots fans is about the history of the sox. The sox go way back into the late 1800's where some of our grandfathers/ great grandfathers were fans of the team themselves. Then generation by generation each family member excepts the sox as their own just like their previous family did. The history that comes with the red sox is like nothing else. Since we've had great ballplayers throughout the years that could be some of the best players to ever play the game. Cy Young, Ted Williams, Roger Clemens, Carl Yaztremski are just some to name a few. That only adds to the history that they all played at Fenway Park which is still here today. Red Sox fans seem arrogant and ****y but once you get to know them they really are good people just with good intentions for their team.

Patriots fans (and football fans in general) most feel are the new age of our country while baseball was our past time. America needed something new something entertaining and something with action from second to second. Thus fans of football were born. We like the hard nosed plays of fighting in the trenches. The joy and fear of winning or losing the big games. The part that every game is important because there are only 16 games all season and you have to wait every seven days to see one. Most of all we like the behind the scenes shots where people get to see how the game is played from a coaches point of view.


Red Sox fans are mathmatical and loyal.

Patriots fans are action packed and diehard.

Thats the best way i can explain it from my point of view.

Here is a difference, as I see it, RED SOX (baseball) the game that they play is simplier to understand. Also, one player (pitcher) can dominate a game. So RED SOX & baseball fans think that they know everything about it and can act like that way.

Football (Patriots) is a much harder game to understand. Football is also evolving all the time. Football is the ultimate team game no one player can dominate a game without all of his teammates doing heir jobs. That is why football fans are less arrogant than baseball fans.

Also you will learn that there is an ignore feature if you don't want to see what these people are posting. I call it my "dead to me' list.

Unfortunately when poeple use the "quote" feature it negates the ignore feature but they can, and should, just be ignored anyway.

Also don't be jumping ugly with FBN or BG, they are good posters. They just called you on a couple of things. To know them is to love them, like me.
