Michael available.

The Hawks have released Michael we should cut Bolden immediately and sign Michael.
It goes without saying it would be a upgrade.

He has great initial burst but strangely he can't really change speed or direction after that. His feet/mind seem to be racing and he very consistently slips and falls when he does need to change direction. Don't think he has the strength or awareness necessary to work through traffic and then use his great acceleration to hit an opening. Still an upgrade as a runner over bolden but I'd rather just keep bolden for ST.

He would be an upgrade to Bolden as a RB but not on ST. Bolden shouldn't be on the field except in emergency or blowout anyway (though I know that's not always true). LGB, White, Lewis soon...Bolden may be inactive for games here and there anyway. If Michael was a difference maker 1) they wouldn't have waived him, and 2) he'll get claimed before the Pats could do so anyway.

I'm all for having a better run game, but it's hard to envision adding a guy like Michael when Lewis is coming back.

I'm actually wondering if bringing back Sealver Siligia would be the better choice, as he was released today too.

I'm not trying to be a total ****, here, but Bolden is one of those guys I consider a good litmus test on how much credence I should give your opinion. His contributions on STs alone make him significantly more valuable to us than Michael ever will be.

Same for people who had us cutting White or King.

Are there really people saying that? If so, that's truly baffling.
King was certainly considered by some to be one of those who may be cut to make room for Brady and Ninkovich, so it wasn't too long ago. Hell, I'm sure there are some who would still have them as their 53rd player and they may even be right. I'm guessing that Belichick values him much more than the average fan, though.

Sure King is arguably a bubble player, (Belichik does love his Special Teams leaders though) but James White? He does nothing but make plays.

He would be an upgrade at RB, but so would literally 98% of other NFL RB FAs. Bolden is here for his ST like it or not. Personally I would take a 50% increase at backup RB for a 25% dip at gunner (not saying Michael would provide that but many RBs out there would) but what do I know? I also would not draft safeties with 6th round grades in the second round over and over again. Also would not win super bowls so ....

This is gonna happen any time someone with a recognizable name will be cut, right ? Here come the "we don't need good special teams players" posts.

I agree hes a valauable special teamer but you cant deny the times hes gotten the ball at all this season he has regressed.
He looks slower has no vision and has dropped very catchable passes.
Id hate to see Blount go down and not have a compliment to run the rock other than Lewis who I believe we would all agree has way too bad injury luck to be anything close to a workhorse.
If I fail that litmus test so be it.
Call me crazy but converting 3rd and shorts without putting Brady into the teeths of defenses is a priority in my opinion.
Sorry not sorry for having one.

Somebody call the Foundation for Law and Government and KITT as soon as possible!

I like him but he was released twice last year without us signing him. He would give us a second "big back" option if anything happened to Blount. And if we signed him for 2 years, would be an option for next year when Blount is a FA. Don't think it'll happen though.

Bolden is on the squad for special teams. I don't think they're going to cut him over Michael. With Blount, White, and now a returning Lewis, we don't necessarily need him either.

Blount and White are both free agents
White and Blount both more than likely will go for more money elsewhere.
Blount is having a heck of a year he might of priced himself out of the Patriots price point.
I expect the Colts and Ravens to knock on Blounts door.

The question is, what happens if Blount gets hurt ?

White ? No.
Lewis ? Probably can't handle it.
Foster ? No.
Gaffney ? That's what we'd have.

Again, I don't think we're doing this but if Blount gets hurt we're probably looking at 10-12 legit running plays a game the rest of the way. Or Gaffney.

I'm with you with the concern over no real #2 big back behind Blount. We'd be counting on Gaffney. Not good. You'd think after having to resurrect the corpse of Steven Jackson for the playoffs because they had no plan behind Blount that BB would not put the team in the same position twice.

For a guy who hates error repeaters, he sure seems to be tempting fate and heading down the same path in 2016.
