As a Raider fan you guys will not see much of me, but I wanted to congratulate you pats fans on picking up a good football guy in DB. I give the trade a 9 for you guys and a 6 for us.

Allot of the haters are going to come in here and say the guy has lost a step bla bla bla. Truth is you guys are going to get an extremely motivated, nasty football player, who at the end of his career badly wants a championship. I think he is going to do a great job in space going after a QB, he has always been pass rush specialist and I am confident your coaching staff will better use him to that end. DB is a liability against the run but not to the extent that he can not play a half or more of the time. His struggles also could have been due to the fact that my team continues to ignore the interior defensive line, but that is a post for another day on another forum.

Bottom line: Burgess is going to have another breakout year on a team with a sound defensive philosophy.

I'd like to add a .5 to 1 point to my score after reading this very "non-bias, non-homered" assessment from a guy whose watched him way more than any of us over the last few years.

A++ Dude. Thanks.

I give it an 8 - Peppers or even Wilhelm would have been great but we all know it would have cost the team dearly down the line with cap suicide but this Burgess guy should be worth an 8 rating

Wilhelm.

That's a good joke, mang.

If he collects 12 sacks, makes all-pro, and helps us win the SB, then this trade rates a 10.

If he continues his 3-year trend of sack #s declining by half of the previous year, and missing more games to injury, then this trade rates a 1 because of the exorbitant cost to acquire him.

I therefore split the difference and rated this trade a 5.

OK.

So if he does well, you'll rate the trade highly.

If he doesn't, you'll rate it poorly.

Way to step out on a limb.

not to mention if this happened

I would rate it a 15 on a scale of 1-10.

I will give you my opinion as a Buffalo Bills fan, the trade filled a need for the Patriots and the guy was a bargain.

I rated it a 3, because the freakin Patriots got him and not Buffalo

I gave it a 7. It was a position of need, I think Philly being involved maybe drove up the price. Most of the time former Raiders come here and are serviceable players, and if 25-30 plays a game of Burgess and AD coming off the edges is enough to give us a good enough pass rush to get off the field, then I am all for it.

Thanks for your input. It always makes me excited when other teams fans actually come to talk about football...and just football. Thanks. Hope you keep up posting.

I gave the trade an 8 for many of the reasons already listed in the thread. It's a little early for me to give any higher, although I hope to move it up to a 10 as the season progresses

I give it an Eight.Fills a need, cost seems fair.Lots of potential, just hope we see the upside.

I voted (8) by the time next year rolls around we will have probably traded and got the 3rd pick back. And reading what BB said about Burgess he sounds pretty positive about him But i wouldn't expect any thing different.

By this time next year, Burgess will most likely not be under contract with the Patriots either.

I gave it a 7. I have a feeling that this trade suggests that noones stepping up in tc and prooving that they can preasure the qb. If Crable was on the field and showing some promise Im pretty sure this trade woul not have happened.

I have no problem with the player. I think they gave up too much for the current value. If they win, the value cost won't matter. If they lose, the trade won't be the reason.

Give that whatever number you think it means.

I give it two snaps up.

Probably because they gave up in trade more than he/she was expecting.....Is this you Deus?

I'd just be interested in reading why someone thinks this was a really bad trade, two points away from being as bad as possible.
