Rap: Mayo is the new HC

I am assuming this would be a defensive player.

Probably Uche, but maybe Dugger. Hopefully Dugger as he is more impactful and if he wants to be here specifically, getting him on a discount would be nice. Though I'll take a modest Uche deal no problem. Him + Judon together are good, and with Barmore's explosion this season, the 3 of them in 2024 could be great.

He had a chance with a new QB. He had Mac. Mac declined under him. This wasn't just "oh they drafted a total bum". They drafted a guy who in year one was considered the best of his class and within 3 years was considered a total dud. We also saw his back up QB being trash as well. We also saw the line and receivers independently being just awful and amongst the worst if not worst in the league. Bill had since 2019 to fix up an offense that was letting Tom Brady down. Let's not pretend he didn't get a fair chance.
Lol so he was supposed to bang with his first QB draft after Brady? OK cos everyone just does that right, finish with one QB immediately find the next one.

FTR: dude I wanted BB nowhere near our 2024 Draft Class he's screwed up enough of our Draft classes.
Exactly. It would have been malpractice to have Bill anywhere near this draft and this free agency. I don't really even think there is a good counter argument to that.

So a rookie HC and rookie QB are the answer? Not a future HOF HC and a rookie QB?

Lets be real when it came to it we all wanted Mac Jones based on our draft position and who we could realistically get. He banged in his rookie season and we made the playoffs. So he was the obvious choice to continue with in 2022 as the starter, why would you not expect him to get even better?

Problem was we then wasted 2022 because he was up and down an starting to look like he wasn't the answer. However, we finished 8-9 and had Matt ****ing Patricia as OC (bills fault) so we all blamed that and thought Mac gets another chance in 2023.

Only this year (albeit many of us had given up on his last year) has everyone started to fully accept he is ****e and that we need a QB. So regardless of coach we would not be in the market for a QB and to rectify the issue. I'd much rather have given Bill that chance than a rookie HC and then let Mayo take over next year when hopefully the QB position is stable.
You can't teach old dogs new tricks BB acts like it's still 2004 or haven't you noticed.

How is it avoiding the Rooney Rule? Hes Black.

If he was White then they need to adhere to the Rooney Rule and interview a Black candidate.
Part of the currently-applied Rooney Rule stipulates that teams can make a promotion without conducting any interviews if the candidate in question has already been labeled as the coach or executive in waiting. Race of that candidate does not matter at all.

The IBBWT Crowd thinks he's the same guy. I wish him all the luck on his next Team.

Sure, but if I'm a WR or a TE, watching the last few years, the last place I'd want to be is New England for long-term financial health. And it's not just because of the QB.
I

seems like a very bright, well spoken articulate guy. Will be a refreshing change.
Bottom line...if team gets good players, he will be successful.
If they have crap for talent he will struggle.

Look at Nick Siriani in Philly. He is not a savant but he took his team to
Rumors are if Philly loses this weekend he’s out.

He needs a good GM otherwise he's screwed.

I hope they hire an OC who's not part of the Belichick tree. Get someone from Shanahan, McDaniel, or McVay's staff.

Some continuity on defense, outside of Mayo, would help. Maybe convince one of Belichick's kids to stay.

I think the players will play hard for him. From the stories I've read, he's well respected and liked.

Kraft and the fanbase need to reset their expectations. Let him build and give him at least 3 years to make the playoffs.

That old dogs tricks worked and brought us a superbowl 4 years ago.

We've had 2 seasons out the playoffs and people act like he's suddenly turned awful. Last year when we went 8-9 was the stupid season for me, should've tanked then...no point being a mid team in this league it gets you nothing but more mid draft picks.

I've said 100 times all he needed was GM roles taking off him or at least being challenged because he has drafted poorly for the last few years. Then again I don't think Mac Jones was even a bad draft pick at the time, just didn't hit the level we all hoped.

Or you can both learn to read and accept the fact I've already said Bill needed support at minimum for the GM duties.

Anyway wherever he goes he'll show you all he is exactly the same guy who had us 17 consecutive seasons with 10 or more wins.

Lol so he was supposed to bang with his first QB draft after Brady? OK cos everyone just does that right, finish with one QB immediately find the next one.
He was supposed to not have the worst offense in the NFL. And a big part of that had to do with his team building on offense outside of QB. He objectively failed on offense for 5 years. It was an open secret even back in 2018/2019 that the Patriots were very light on weapons after years of bad drafting. He never fixed it. When he had the opportunity he went against his scouts and picked Harry, he let WR runs happen right in front of him and didn't make a move and then shrugged his shoulders and moved down, he picked Sanu over Sanders, he picked Jonnu Smith to give a big contract to, he let guys like Harris and Meyers walk. He got Wynn who busted, he got Strange who is on the verge of being a bust. He let top tier OL go when they were still productive and couldn't replace them. He went into the last draft knowing offense was a clear weakness and didn't go offense until round 4 and didn't go WR until round 6. It's almost like everyone knew that plus getting rid of Meyers and Harris was a dumb move. Stevie Wonder saw that coming.

And that's just offense. Over the last few years he reached in the draft on two seperate place kickers. One couldn't even make the team and the other sucks.

We haven't signed any of our top round draft picks to a second contract for the better part of a decade as well.

Please stop pretending that Bill didn't have years of atrocious team management going on that became more and more of an albatross. The only thing he did well was defense and it was largely at the expense of everything else. This year we had the first great first round pick by Belichick in over a decade and it was a luxury pick at CB that we didn't even need because the defense was good without him.

It's frankly insulting to everyones intelligence that Bill didn't have enough time to figure out an offense that 5 years ago had a bunch of people calling Brady a washed up has been over so they could absolve Bill of blame. He had a chance to fix these problems. He had half a decade to. He failed.

I hope they hire an OC who's not part of the Belichick tree. Get someone from Shanahan, McDaniel, or McVay's staff.
You're going to lose it when you find out that McVay and Shanahan have evolved from outside zone to gap schemes and short and intermediate passing game... just like us. BB's offense is the past and present offensive system. We just don't have players to execute it.

Some things we don't expect what if Mac works his Butt off this Offseason we add real Talent in FA like say WR Tee Higgins if he not tagged. Resign Hunter Henry and sign TE Dalton Schultz. That would really give us some fire power on Offense we can cut some of the BB Deadwoods like Parker and Thornton. I hope this new beginning lights a fire under Mac BB did him no favors with his roster building.

lol rolling on the ground laughing my nutz off … cause this guy … haha … who doesn’t have head coaching experience … hahaha … who didn’t even have a real “ title “ … haha … is gonna be better than what we just had … haha lol … here’s to the next 4 years of sucking azzzz… ha wow !!!

Bill had support. He had people telling him to draft Deebo or Brown. He choose Harry because his buddy convinced him.
