Tim tebow 40 yd td run - go broncos!! Beat the raiders!

okay, so where do we stand now ? the raiders must lose these last two. if we can get above 15 i'll be happy. top 5 would have been awesome ! oh well.

We're 15th right now. If Oakland loses last two, might be able to move up a couple more. Seattle could win another. Gets them to 7 wins.
SF, Houston and maybe Dallas can win their last two. Would get them to 7 also. Carolina almost a lock for top pick of 2nd round. Games at Pittsburgh(must win for Stillers) and Atlanta. Minny not looking good either. Hurts us in the 1st, but should be a high 3rd rounder.

The best bang for the buck in the Draft has always been in the 10-15 slot - last year Alualu, Graham and Thomas all went there and have had excellent rookie years; in 2009 Crabtree, Orakpo and Cushing went in the same area (two of them making the Pro-Bowl in their rookie years); in 2008 Mayo, McKelvin, Clady, Stewart were drafted one after another; and in 2007 you saw Patrick Willis, Marshawn Lynch, Darelle Revis and Lawrence Timmons (two of which are the very best at their positions in the game) were drafted in that part of the Draft.

In that spot, two things happen - great players can drop if there's a run on certain positions; or you can draft someone who you really like a few positions ahead of where they might normally have gone without too much worry about paying them more than the position normally earns in terms of the Draft pay scale.

Excellent post! If Oakland ends up between 15 and 18 I will be very, very come draft day!

This is a great point. Though I'd still love that pick to be in the top 10, as high as possible. We could always trade down and pick up some extras :singing:

There was an article published not too long ago which statistically showed that the second round is the best bang for the buck - right when the Patriots were in the midst of having 4 second round picks.

BB - always ahead of the curve.

No doubt the second round is where the rue value is, but as far as first round value,it is in that 10-15 range, high ceiling but it only dents the cap instead of crushing it like a top three pick does.

Fine points, all, gentlemen!! :rocker:

I hope we can all agree on the obvious: The BEST possible outcome ~ even though it's a VERY long shot, at this point ~ would be if the Pick were to plummet all the way to #7 or #8.

The reasoning is obvious, I hope: regardless of the ultimate destination of our first pick ~ and I'd personally be VERY content if it were in the 20's!! ~ the more Picks we can accumulate on the way Down...the better.

I point that out only because I've seen some posts around these parts actually rooting ~ unfathomably ~ for the Oakland pick to land in the teens.

The more and more I think about the Raiders pick.. I would be comfortable being anywhere from 9-12

Here is why.. The chances of 4 Qb's going early is very high with

Luck
Locker
Mallett
Newton

Being there for teams like SF / WAS / Car/ Cin / AZ / Buff / Minny

That being said that leaves the rest of the Blue Chips to be there or at the very least a very nice piece of bait for someone wanting an elite talent..

From Espn Draft Central
1. Patrick Peterson* CB LSU 98
2. Da'Quan Bowers* DE Clemson 97
3. Marcell Dareus* DT Alabama 97
4. Robert Quinn* DE North Carolina 96
5. A.J. Green* WR Georgia 96
7. Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska 96
8. Nick Fairley DT Auburn 95
9. Adrian Clayborn DE Iowa 94

Either way we get someone who can help our team significantly via playing or trading..

So bottom line is we need Oakland to be in the 9-12 range.. for this to happen..
