this may have been discussed already, however I was out of the country watching the game in a bar, and there was a clip of Willie supposedly being restrained by the team, heard some comment about how this was so unpartiot like. I checked the threads here and there was only a couple of comments about how he was supposedly going after Izzo. Could someone please clarify this for me? Thanks.

Yeah, this was on the 1-yard run after Champ Bailey's INT. Izzo apparently missed his assignment and Anderson scored easily. Willie didn't take it too well, and at that point I think he knew that the TD all but sealed up the game. That whole evening can be best described as "Un-Patriot Like"

He grabbed him by the face and threw him to the ground...you be the judge...

thank you, thought it was something like this

This thread's a joke, right? Larry Izzo and his 220 lbs were playing linebacker in the goalline D?

i didnt see him on the line either. no doubt something wierd happened but no clue why.

That stuff happens, even on the Patriots . How many fights do you think there are during practice & training camp?

i saw it...

Yes, Larry was playing; he was an extra LB/S and didn't close the edge. The Bronco RB could just about have walked into the endzone.

My heart just SUNK at that moment. I thought, damnit.. they're imploding, it's over.

I'm still wondering why Mangini had Izzo on the line in that situation? I've never noticed him lined up there before, Box or somebody... is he normally there on our goal line package? I can think of a few others that I'd rather trust edge-containment to.

I'm guessing he comes in as a big safety. Might have been a Bronco-specific decision, since they call running plays from inside the three yard line 99.46 percent of the time.

only the geat spirit knows what izzo was doing out there. he obviously had just stepped onto the field. he had to be standing in for someone, matt chatham or don davis.
but i wouldn't make anything of that little flare-up. means nothing. if they socialize in the same group, it got straightened out that night. perhaps on the plane.
