QB is the toughest position in sports. Fact.

Brady was the best but drafted in 6 th round. This means his development was paramount. Lots of QBs get drafted but follow different paths that get them to starting nfl football games.

Garoppolo was backup for 4 years. Brissett less time. Mixed results.

Stidham is now in the position to follow the Brady blueprint. Bench and clipboard for 1 year. Then get in the game and start developing in real time in live games. In other words. It worked for Brady. The extended bench time doesn't really help does it?

The blueprint can be followed exactly if they want. Hoyer starts 2 games goes 0-1, then throws 28 passes week 2 and is replaced by stidham. Haha..

Can Belichick also use the Lawrence Taylor blueprint on a rookie linebacker?

It never ceases to amaze me how many people think the greatest QB of all time will be pretty easy to replace.

Brady is practically impossible to replace.

The “blueprint” NE should try to emulate ? 2001 or 2018. Get a smart QB who’ll make few mistakes. Load up team with smart, versatile, athletic D. Hope for breaks along the way.

LT in his prime or Shawn Crable in his prime ? Take your time.

They’re the same if Belichick is the coach. It’s all about the scheme.

Provide multiple short passing options for Stid the Kid while he has his training wheels on. Let the talent around him turn 2 yard passes into 7 yard gains.
The fact that Stid Vicious can leg out first downs much the same as Cassell did during his 11-5 season gives me further hope.
Josh will even be able to call boot legs and roll outs for Studham now.
Limited in certain ways, freer in others

Brady basically learned on the job. I would argue that Brady wasn't "Brady" until maybe 2004-2005, IMO.

Brady was always Brady. Rules changes in 2004 created a situation where the game changed and QB stats went up across the board, but this is a guy who took over a team that went 5-13 under Belichick and turned them into Champions.

LT was an athletic freak. And u can't compare positions to qb.

Brady was 6 th round very smart but slow. He had Charlie Weis and Belichick and that team of players.. People that think he would have followed same path elsewhere are kinda myopic. But it's entertaining to read this stuff.

The other point is the thread is about development comparison NOT at all saying studs is Brady. The player on the team right now is not Brady ... So the point is to try to emulate all possible Brady elements to help the new guy.

    Try and follow. Yikes. o_O

Brady in 01-03 had the reins put on him by BB and Weis and the team could afford that because of a power running game from Antowain Smith and a playmaking defense with great players everywhere. It’s not a bad blueprint to emulate.

Smith was so underrated. He was THE offense in 2001 imo. Might have given him an MVP nod over Brady in SB36 if I had a vote.

BB is on record as saying at the conclusion of the 06 season and going into the 07 season was when he really felt Tom was in complete command of his game and the offense.

Hopefully he can make those throws in the flat with enough touch and accuracy to give his guys YAC, and he can recognize blitzers while also making sure people don't jump into those lanes for pick 6s.

It always amazes me that even the great QBs struggle throwing it to a back still behind the LOS.

Aaron Rodgers can make many types of throws that Brady can't make, but he can't throw it to a guy wheeling to either side of him.

And I am sure it is just a coincidence that his stats improved when they got Welker and Moss.

Of course they improved. What do you mean? He said that back in the early 2010s.
