Well, the 2009 NFL Draft is winding down, and soon the free agent scramble will begin. Who are your undrafted free agents of note? Obviously, posting before the seventh round finishes might prove a bit risky (especially since I hope we draft a couple of the guys I'm about to mention), but let's start building a list of names.

RB Rashad Jennings - I absolutely cannot believe he hasn't been drafted yet.
RB Devin Moore - ditto.
WR Eron Riley - might be worth a look.
WR Aaron Kelly - ditto.
DL Everette Pedescleaux - much better lineman than Pryor, in my opinion. Potential 34 end.
QB/WR/RB/Wildcat Julian Edelman - a poor man's Pat White with unbelievable change of direction skills.
P/K Graham Gano - seems too skilled not to bring to camp. Could push Hanson.

Please feel free to keep adding! Last year we got Guyton, Redd, and Law Firm, and all three proved helpful down the stretch.

Antonio Appleby, could be a nice addition @ ILB.

Good call. He's at least played ILB in the 34 during college.

How about Zach Potter? 6'7 280 DE, could be a developmental 5-tech.

Ricky Jean-Francois- lots of talent, showed great signs, but...

With a 7th, why not try to motivate this guy.

I always loved Ian Johnson out of Boise.

I was gonna add Moise Fokou, OLB Maryland but the Eagles just took him at 230..... dern em.

The Pats added Edelman in the 7th round.

Personally, I hope they bring in Mike Reilly from Central Washington.

There goes Jennings . . . sad. I would take him over Pryor anyday. Had a feeling he might go to the Jags, since they cut Taylor. I really think he's gonna have a similar career, though he may not be quite as successful.

Ian Johnson

i'm really hoping we sign Kory Sheets, an RB out of Purdue.

part of my bias is that i played against him in high school (admittedly, hetrashed our team, though i did have a tackle for a loss on him!)

but I could really see him being a Kevin Faulk type guy. Purdue ran a spread offense, and Sheets was used a lot in the passing game. He's got good speed and elusiveness as well. He was very productive, consistently improving his stats year to year, and setting school records for career rushing and overall TD's, and second overall for rushing attempts, all purpose yards, and total points scored.

I think the only reason teams passed on him was partly that he wasn't used a whole lot until this past year, and also because of his character (he complained to the press about his QB).

But when established pro's like Corey Dillon and Randy Moss- two well-known complainers- come into NE and shut their mouths, there's a good chance Sheets will too. I definitely think Sheets will find his way onto a team's roster, and hopefully it's ours.

Frantz Joseph.

He's a physical player that I believe will at least excel in special teams. He's gonna make someone's opening day roster.

QB/WR/RB/Wildcat Julian Edelman - a poor man's Pat White with unbelievable change of direction skills.
P/K Graham Gano - seems too skilled not to bring to camp. Could push Hanson.

The Pats actually drafted Edelman...
I'll agree on Jennings, Moore, and Gano. Would be nice to take a look at em and see if they can unseat BJGE and Hanson respectively.

I like the idea of bringing in Appleby, Gano and Jennings.

Ian Johnson - I was calling from him starting in the 5th round, He is slightly under 6' 219. ran a 4.41 and did 24 reps @225. Plemty strong and catches the ball well out of the backfield. He also had the 2nd highest Wonderlic (26) of all RB's.

This would be a guy that may not make the roster and could be stashed away on the PSD (every othe team passed on drafting him). Groom him as a replacement for Faulk.

For the record, Jennings was drafted, just a couple picks before the end of the draft. Ah well.

Ian Johnson is certainly an intriguing guy. What makes you think he could unseat BJGE?

Finds the endzone. Improved his 40 time. nice replacement for faulk in the future.

I'm hoping for Eron Riley, Joel Bell, Domonique Johnson and Gerald Cadogan. I'm shocked Cadogan wasn't drafted. I thought Joel Bell might have been a lower but safer pick than Vollmer before the draft. Riley was highly productive and has terrific workout numbers. Domonique Johnson was on quite a few lists as the best FCS prospect in the country last season.

I usually don't care about UDFA's, but I'd bring Cadogan in.
