Last week: The Bengals lost at New Orleans 17-7 while the Patriots defeated the Eagles in Philadelphia 27-25.

Injuries: Out – QB Carson Palmer (ankle), CB David Jones (foot), WR Antonio Chatman (ankle), TE Ben Utecht (concussion), DT Pernell Phillips (groin). Doubtful – TE Matt Sherry (shoulder). Probable – TE Dan Coats (ankle), LS Brad St. Louis (turf toe) and FB Fui Vakapuna (knee).

Under the spotlight: With Palmer out...

No mistakes: The first-team offense...it didn’t score and made two turnovers.

Just to give credit where credit is due, the article was by Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald, not Chris Price ...

It's interesting that four of the five things listed to watch for are vets - Brady, Galloway, Bruschi, and Taylor - and only one is on the rookies (Edelman, Pryor, Vollmer, Butler and Brace.) I feel we'll look back in a few years at 2009 as the year the 'new' Pats came to be.

Springs is a big one for me. If he plays, does he still have a starting spot? If so, is he still an elite CB in this league? If the answer is yes, our CB depth is insanely good.

OK, that last one is really 5 in itself (who are the kickoff returners, who makes key blocks, which gunners make plays, who looks absolutely lost, and who cleans up the mess when someone does gest lost) but it's what's gonna tell us who those last few guys are.
