I agree that Dobson could have returned a bit, but a QB like Brady should have read that Safety position and antecipated what he would do. That is on Brady more than Dobson IMO
You have to know when to sit down in your routes, but more importantly never to sell your route (it was a dig) and Dobson made a big fat read for Coleman to just cut under.
Additionally, Dobson could have just run over Coleman. Gives up a good few inches and 20 something pounds.
