Predictions Of The Patriots Demise Could Lead To A Special Season
By: Russ Goldman

Please read my thoughts on what potential negative predictions on the upcoming Patriots season could lead to....

Excellent article. This will be the year, that all that press fuels the team to win the SB for the fourth time.

The press has been touting this teams demise since they went 9-7 in 2002.

Who has actually predicted the Patriots' "demise" this season as a result of the Hernandez mess?

All Goldman seems to do is rehash naysayers from years' past, but he doesn't cite anyone credible who has come out and said that the Pats will fail this season nor does he say what the measure of such "failure" would be.

If all he is doing is refuting talk radio gossip or bar room debates, I'm not sure that's all that useful.

Certainly fans who bet real money are not predicting the demise of the patriots. As of now, the patriots are the #2 team in the AFC, according to bettors.

Lets see...

Bill Belicheck - In the same breathe as Lombardi, Noll and Walsh, and still the best at what he does
Tom Brady - In the same breathe as Montana, Elway and Unitas, and still the best at what he does
Josh McDaniels - 2007 and 2012 seasons .. tell me what you think? One of the best OC's in the league
Brian Daboll (revived Brown and Patten's careers, developed and groomed Givens & Branch) so what do you think he will do with all this talent that he has to work with now?
Coach Dante - Demands the world from his O-Line, OldSchool and Tough
Stevan Ridley - Rising NFL star that joined the 1,200 yard club last year
Shane Vereen = gifted runner and an even better receiver then Woodhead
LeGarrett Blount - Extremely tough to bring down, lots of power, hurdles over defenders and mad about Doug Martin, wants to the nay-sayers wrong.
Brandon Bolden - Before his suspension was becoming Ridley's "Robin" and a great 1 2 punch
Danny Amendola = Everything Wes can do I can do better, and yes he can.. add to the fact that he can get deep
Julian Edelman - nothing offensively on the football field he can't do healthy. RB + Slot WR + Screens + Split Wide.
Donald Jones - people don't like him but he use to give us trouble, now we have him which is good. He actually has an offense, coach and quarterback to work with now. Lets see what he can do as he does not lack talent.
Rob Gronkowski - best TE in NFL will be back before mid-season, even having him on the field as a decoy will impact the opposing defense.
Aaron Dobson - 6'3 over 200lbs and compared to Moss and Fitz, and that don't come often. Also didn't drop a single pass his senior year, and did you see that one handed grab he made? That was sick. By the way the last two receivers to come out of Marshall for NE are Randy Moss and Troy Brown, two of the best we've had.
Josh Boyce - the most versatile receiver we probably ever DRAFTED, very smart and sick after the catch
Michael Jenkins - solid veteran with size, hands and routes, brings experience and never had a real QB
By the way .. Dobson, Boyce, Amendola and Jones are all vertical threats, whens the last time we had that?
Jake Ballard -Proven winner with a SB ring, was Eli's most reliable target, and solid blocker, Coughlin hated this move
Zach Sudfield - big, fast and strong kid with good hands and goal-line presence.. impressive in camp thus far from what I read.
Logan Mankins, Sebastian Vollmer and Nate Solder - BIG 3
Sebastian lets remember has turned into a premiere OT, resigning was huge!
Leon Washington - Devin Hester and Brian Mitchell are considered his peers
Vince Wilfork - has become legendary and still amongst the elite
Tommy Kelly has been to a probowl and adds veteran backup and interior rush
Former CFL Star Armond Armstead can add even more push up the middle
Rookie OLB/DE Hybrid Jamie Collins can pass rush, play the run and has speed to cover. The guy even played safety for crying out loud!! An amazing athlete and explosive player. Can play multiple positions for us and will learn a lot from Bill Belichick (remember he helped developed Lawrence Taylor), Ninkovich and Adrian Wilson.
DE Michael Buchanan considered a "steal" this draft by many analyst, exceptional athlete.
I like Justin Francis and his versatility, he is underrated.
That Jake Bequette kid is hungry and offers alot
Jerod Mayo - Self Explanatory .. Defensive Captain and Constant Pro-Bowler
Brandon Spikes dedicated himself on his speed this off-season
Remember Spikes is already considered among the best against the run
Don'ta Hightower, Chandler Jones, and Tavon Wilson rising in year two?
Rob Ninkovich - He is consistent, versatile, smart and makes clutch plays
Dane Fletcher is back healthy
Steve Beauranhais - provides nice depth and has lots of potential
CB Aqib Talib re-signing is huge, one of the best and single-handedly changed the play of the defense.
Ras-I Dowling is now healthy and absolutely turning heads this offseason. Nice size at 6'1 and is said by many to have excellent ball-skills and shutdown ability as a corner..
CB Alfonzo Dennard returns, very very solid corner
All-Pro safety Adrian Wilson brings attitude, physicality, tenacity, swagger, and experience to the defense. He also brings leadership and star power as well. Think about it, if a good player like Aqib Talib had the impact that he had last year on defense, then just imagine what Adrian Wilson could do to this defense. He has been to 5 pro-bowls, 4 all pro's, an NFC Championship and the 25/25 sack and interception club which is a tremendous feat. And come to think about it, a ring will definitely put him in Canton and I know he wants it bad.
FS Devin McCourty now plays at a position where he looked like he did in 2010, ball-hawking and instinctive center fielder, making him the perfect compliment to Adrian Wilson.
Steve Gregory is solid and good at covering in the slot.
Rookies Duron Harmon and Logan Ryans from Rutgers are smart, provide good depth and have lots of potential.

So yeah, if anything maybe the rest of the league should be worried....

The offense will be fine as long as the O-Line is coached by Scarnecchia and Brady is quarterback. They forget what Brady did with a bunch of guys who couldn't hack it on other teams, right?

Fueled By Doubt....We thrive under such conditions.

Um, do you read on Yahoo!? How about Foxsports.com? You want "respected" names? Michael Silver and Jason Whitlock.

You want less "national" guys? Every thread here has people crying about how there will not be receivers. (Not arguing there will or there won't, just saying those posts exist.)

And, No, I am not going out looking for this crap, but I still can't avoid it.
