I like this plan in general but would keep Trent Brown, move him to RT, and skip on McGlinchey. Trent is pretty valuable being able to play the left or right side well, and he's also due for a bounce back year. I like Trent, his attitude, work ethic, athleticism, occasional dominance - he's a keeper.

The whole O line looked in disarray last year.
It’s bad when a journeyman like McDermott comes in and outplays Brown and Wynn.
At that point can we really blame it all on Patricia?
I’d rather go with a new as a O line as we can.

I'm not totally convinced Brown is a lost cause at LT, I think he was just underpaid for the position and the coaching was really bad. He played through illness and injury and seemed to be on the wrong page several times - playing next to a rookie probably didn't help him. I'd be willing to try another year of Brown at LT if they can ink a solid RT, which shouldn't be too expensive... Then they could draft developmental tackles later instead of needing to use premium picks on the role and could use those picks on other needs like CB.

If Daniel Jones got $40M/year, the NFL is screwed. How stupid will these QB contracts get?
1 player can't get 20% of the budget. It's ridiculous and completely prohibitive to building a competitive roster.
And all it means is that the Patriots will have to go back to early 2000's model and hope they draft a guy ready to win by year 4, then start over with mediocre re-treads that they can plug and play. Because it's unlikely you find another Brady who was willing to take team-friendly deals while continuing to win at the highest level.

And Geno Smith got $35M a year because he was decent for one year after being dogwater for 10 years. The market is absolutely ridiculous... Hard to imagine what Mac's extension will look like next summer... Mahomes' deal looks incredibly low right now in comparison.

I would sign Baker Mayfield to compete with Mac and Bailey.
He has a cannon and showed last season he is a gamer.
That's my thinking too Mayfield is still better than Mac he just need to ditch the bad attitude.

All it means is those with really good quarterbacks will have a easier time staying on top when other teams with meh QBs is eating up that teams ability to field a true competitive team.

Hey Daniel Jones looked better minus the HC Joe Judge experiment Jones also won a playoff game needle pointing up. We should be hoping that Mac Jones have similar success.

Daniel Jones at $40m salary sounds about right, at the upper bounds of what he's worth. The guy can throw and run, he's pretty good. I'm not sure how easily attainable his incentives on top of that are - if he can easily get to $50m then his new contract is too rich.

But... he actually can't throw.

I thought the Giants were going to get rid of him after this year. I live in NY so I caught a lot of Giants games. This guy is wildly inaccurate. Excellent runner. Plays within himself under Daboll. He can be effective. But he will NEVER get to an NFC Championship game.

We must be thinking about different Daniel Joneses. He seems like a hard worker who is liked by his teammates, is a tough kid and has underrated athleticism, as demonstrated by his 700 yards rushing last year, but this place would be going crazy, and rightfully so, if the Pats had signed him to this contract….. unless there is an early out clause that limits the dead cap space.

The new coaching staff did a great job managing him last year, playing to his strengths and limiting the high risk/high reward plays, but year 5 was likely close to as good as it’s going to get with him and that’s not good enough, if the goal is to win a championship and not to simply justify the use of a top 10 draft pick.

If they opened up that much cap space they could afford to sign Lamar to an offer sheet.

I saw Allen Robinson is on the trade block. That might be an interesting one. He’s 30 but should still have some tread. He’s owed about $15M a year this year and next, with all of it guaranteed this year and zero guaranteed next year. Maybe he could be had for a low pick and a restructure.

I think that's more than doable and we could walk away in a year win win. The Rams need picks I would give up our Third rounder to sweeten the deal Allen Robinson's arrival more than remedies Meyers departure.
