Not that I'd want to have Gronk out there with a concussion, but it's too bad the Pats didn't invest in one of those magical tents the Seahawks had that cured Russell Wilson of concussion symptoms in one second.

When they teach the "Art of the Trailing CB", that picture needs to be put in there on how to do it right.
It’s funny because idiots like Kellerman and Steven ass smith are blaming the throw. Hheee was bi catchable ball that could have been thrown to Westbrook on that play that Gilmore wouldn’t have swatted.

You have the factual data that shows that "the vast majority of players with concussions are cleared within two weeks"? Please share..

2016 data- Is The NFL's Concussion Protocol Working?

"As such, please regard the following as an analysis of reported concussion rates in the NFL as represented to the public, not actual concussion rates in the NFL. That being said: 48 percent of players diagnosed with a concussion through Week 14 cleared the protocol in five days or less, meaning they didn't miss a single game. It took the median case five days to clear the protocol, which seems to follow the exact five-day pattern the NFL.com article outlined, which—maybe coincidentially, and maybe convieniently for the purposes of ongoing professional football employment—allows a player who was concussed in a game to play the following week."

That was an excellent response to the question asking for more data! Good stats here.

Here's my hot take; call me insensitive, but I think players should be able to keep playing after a concussion if they are able to. They have the option to go back in with any other injury (that could have serious long term consequences), so I don't see why concussions have to be the exception. It affects the game way too much to take players out like that, and it will always be suspicious when there's an 'independent' consultant who makes the call.

There was recent study (last week, widely publicized) that showed hits to the head cause CTE, not concussions. We're still learning about all this. Players know what they are signing up for. Why change the game so drastically by taking a player out? And maybe there's data out there, but are you at more risk immediately following a concussion for extra trauma? If not, then why remove the player immediately, seems like the damage has been done.

You make a good point, except the key difference between concussions and other injury is that the potential long term effects can lead to dangerous, even homicidal behavior. It's arguably not just to protect a player from himself.

It's crazy. Unreal that we are back in the SB..after our first win..i wondered if I would ever see 1 again...and we could be looking at #6 in 2 weeks.

Still can't believe it today...just one more win Pats...one more

We need this one. I don’t want those garbage Philly fans getting a championship

Were they? Are you clairvoyant and can see alternate realities? No one knows what would have happened if Edelman and Mitchell were both healthy to start the season.

You're the one claiming to be clairvoyant by saying Amendola wouldn't be around if Edelman and Mitchell didn't get hurt. You can have the last word and then we're done.

By the way, I'm not sure anyone has mentioned this stat:

Blake Bortles yards rushing
vs. Buffalo 88
vs. Pittsburgh 35
vs New England -2

Amendola is the man...and the Pats know it. NO WAY he woul dhave been cut this year, regardless of Mitchell and Jules.

From what I've read going back into a game with a concussion could lead to death or permanent brain damage depending on the severity of the concussion and the swelling.

Thanks, yeah I guess it depends on whether the damage is already done or if going back into the game makes it worse.

I'm not up enough on the science, but you could be right. However nobody cared about concussions for decades and players had them all the time, but as far as I know, no (NFL) player died after going back into a game. There were obviously long term effects, but the question is whether those would have happened anyway.

Just to further play contrarian, you could argue that if a player has a rib injury, he should also be instantly removed from the game, because sending him back in could lead to a punctured lung and a life threatening situation. But that's obviously not a rule.

Foles played very well yesterday, but I thought a good chunk of that was just non-existent defense by the Vikings. Likely due to injuries. Just could not prevent the big play. Foles likely isn't as bad as some think but not as good as some think, somewhere in the middle. He's not Tom Brady, all I know

Great job by James White on the flea flicker. He danced behind the line and sold it perfectly, myles jack came flying in and just couldn’t make it back in time to break up catch by Dorsett.

Great attention to detail!

Right after the game I had to look at furniture during a grand opening (in Illinois). I mentioned the incredible catch by Amendola and the Patriots were going to the Superbowl. The guy was beside himself ranting about "that team". I laughed and reminded him of last year's game! Oh, the haters will be full force.

Gilmore has been amazing as of late...i mean amazing
