Post Game Thread- Pats @ Jets

I admit to writing about plays I think are crap isn't the game thread...it doesn't help me at all...and if I knew what the hell I was talking about I would be coaching I guess. I have to learn to stay out of the game thread and hit the post game thread instead. LOL

But I still wonder sometimes that when offenses go for the big shot on 3rd down rather than play for the 1st down, keep the chains moving.

Brady would have been at least 1/3 Gronk was interfered with on 1 of those long third down plays. But I agree with your point. They should stick to their most high percentage plays on third down. going way down field over the top in a tight game isn't their best option.

I have said it 100X, the Pats are a team that is all about faith. They test you. But in the end, they usually always pull it together. Have faith guys. This win showed some fight, by both the offense and defense.

What's the point in calling out other posters? You want to complain, complain. You want to be a homer, do so. I don't have the right to criticize other posters' fanhoods and neither does anyone else.

I have paid money to go to Pats' games and that gives me the right to be any kind of fan I please. /rant

I RARELY ever use the disagree icon but I did on THIS post. YOU can babysit the4se goddamned chicken little doom and gloomers if you want, doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion of their goddamned surrender monkey non-stop blabberations every single goddamned game the Patriots play. These idiots are the same morons that cry for goddamned cupcakes in their friggin' safe spaces because mommy made them clean their ****in' room when they were teens. Football is a WAR GAME! It is NOT a goddamned spoiled brat jerkoff fest of whining , crying, complaining and jackazz braying.

defense played well but were helped by jets being jets. the drop on 3rd and 4 for e.g before the game winning drive. I would love to see more of a pass russh and aggressiveness. They did that in the first quarter on 1st and 2nd downs at times with good results but 3rd down they seem to fall back to 3-4 man rushes which without a playmaker like a justin houston/mack etc is fruitless. Yes long made the play today but you cant count on that every down.

It was 3rd & 11 (after the grounding penalty) and Fitzpatrick had to hurry his throw because Sheard (!!) was pressuring him from the left. Unless you are confusing the exact situation in terms of drop all of it was less random and due to aggressive playcalling.

Now this is what i call a nice receiving menu:

Julian Edelman ..... 8 83 .. 10.4 0 24 11
Chris Hogan ........... 4 70 .. 17.5 0 25 5
Malcolm Mitchell ... 5 42 .. 8.4 2 13 7
Dion Lewis ............. 4 34 .. 8.5 0 16 7
Martellus Bennett .. 3 22 .. 7.3 0 12 5
James White .......... 4 22 .. 5.5 0 11 9
Danny Amendola ... 1 8 ... 8.0 0 8 1
James Develin ........ 1 5 .... 5.0 0 5 2

And that's without Gronk!

(also one of my strange wishes for this game - Develin in receiving game - came true; Fleming next time)

If Van got called on that it could have changed the outcome of the game. It was a borderline non call though, it wasn't blatant.
Brady had a bad game. He came through in the end but just didn't look right on a lot of passes.. and I even saw him smiling like he knew he was having a bad game.
Dion Lewis looks really good for missing a full year with a knee injury, he is only going to get better and stronger as we move towards the playoffs.

Defense played better today.

Ghost is starting to scare me.. missing a 39 yarder..

Quick thoughts

The bad.

OL was suspect today. You need to give the Jets DL some credit though but the OL too often gave up free hits though it improved in the 2nd half IMO.

Brady looked off and it is clear the knee is bothering him. I worry about next week vs the Rams. Donald can get up the field in a hurry up the middle.

Gronk clearly was not ready but it didn't hurt us. Give him another week and see how it looks. Bennett also did not look very good after his injury. Richards going down probably for a long time. Need to get healthy.

The CBs on the whole didn't do well and the pressure often wasn't there from the DL for most of the game.

The Good

There were some encouraging things. The LB play was good. Roberts stepped up his game this week and again made plays and looked like he belong. Highly encouraging. Also Van Noy looked good. This kind of weak makes me believe though missing Collins hurt maybe we can work around it.

The DL made same key plays at key times and though they got little pressure they won the LOS in the run game and never let Forte or anyone else really get going.

Though the injury bug hit no one key went down. Hope for good news on Richards but he won't make or break us.

Mitchell really did well and hope he continues to improve.

Got the win and did it with injuries and our C game.

The game thread is becoming unhealthy for me. I let out irrational thoughts that only belong in my head in the heat of the moment. Then again maybe it's healthy to let out that anger? Meh

Thats the entire point of it which some people dont seem to understand. It's meant for real time reactions to what is going on on the field. You shouldn't be shamed for disagreeing or getting upset with what you see happening.

Brady Magic with 2 minutes to go yet again!

I was hoping for a blowout. But I'll take the win anytime vs the Jets.

This defeat must make them pretty salty!

Cos they thought they were going to win... LOL

Zebras pretty much let them play today for the most part. Rowe and Van Not got away with borderline plays as well so it all evened out in the wash.

At the very least the officiating crew was consistent. The no-call on Gronk early on was the same kind of no-call they repeated deep into the fourth quarter on the home team.

That being said, can someone explain to me why they picked up the flag on that ST penalty when Jones touched the guy who called for a fair catch ? Was it because his waving was not clear enough ? I must have missed that.. big onions for picking up that flag..

Finally, while I kinda understood the reversal on the TD of Enunwa (his butt seemed to be slightly earlier on the floor than his elbow on the chalk) I don't like that they reversed the call on the 2 pt conversion. Stuff like that happens all the time and usually if the player has his feet in and its not blatant it doesnt get overturned.

How in the hell is there conclusive evidence that proves that not even a small fraction of the ball touched the endzone plane ?

I mentioned this crew and their propensity to "let them play" earlier this week. That PI on Gronk early was a good indication they were going to let the players play. Plenty of contact on both sides today but that crew fit the Jets style far more than the Pats. Sounds paranoid but I've been watching these ref assignments all season and there IS a pattern.
Hochuli's crew would have thrown three times as many flags today.

Amazing the difference practice makes - even for the GOAT. You could see his accuracy issues tonight - and whether knee injury or missing the reps this adds credence to the continued calls that the Thursday night game are ^%$# not because of any other reason than practice actually HELPS PLAYERS!!!!

You wants ratings????

Allow the players to practice (this goes back to the two a days and pads too BTW...in case people were wondering)

Dont disagree here. Was there any angle which definitively demonstrated the call on the field was incorrect? Not that I saw, but hey made the last series much more compelling huh <sarc>?
