Post Game Thread- Pats destroy the Jets

I'm sure that the team has its reasons for how it's used Dorsett this season, and I'm not trying to say it's been wrong. But I sure as hell would like to know those reasons, because his numbers on the field would seem to indicate that he deserved a lot more playing time than he was getting once Gordon arrived.

Pretty sure he has the highest catch rate on the team. That isn't the entire story of course, but still.

Truly perplexing. I'm not sure I've ever seen a statistically reliable target not get targeted. Can't wait for the tell all book.

If we didn't let that garbage time TD against the Bills we would have finished the season under 20 points allowed. Still top 10 in points allowed again.

No matter how ugly the start over an entire season you can bank the defense to be around 20-21 points given up on average at worst. Just goes to coaching and that it sometimes takes a bit to figure out the right personnel mixes and situations. But once they figure it out they are usually an above average defense (who can still get gashed against the wrong matchups).

They ran 2 times a game more. That is statistically insignificant and they ran LESS than they did in 2016.
They will throw the ball in the playoffs, they always do, and they should. They need to make the outcome as dependent upon the GOAT as possible.
Thats fine but not straight up. Unlike past years need more playaction to create seperation. That's the running game. To completely discard the running game and make it an afterthought in the playoffs is nonsensical.

Again I didn’t say completely ignore. Not sure why you keep misrepresenting what I say.

I don't mean to but you are coming off as implying, "Just give it to Tom and we'll be fine.". I agree in spirit and historically sure but that is not how the 2018 team has rolled. Especially with no Josh and a lesser Gronk

Yup

The RB position is the strongest unit on offense. Sony, Burk, Whitey and Patterson. The next team is not going to be like the Jets and leave 8 yards cushions and have a HC out to lunch.

This year is different. Brady threw the ball better vs the Jets, but still only had 250 yards through the air. 126 last week vs the Bills.

Andy is right in the respect that Tom will throw 35-40 times but it'll all be all short stuff to JE, White, etc couple of long throws sprinkled in. That's the posession game.

There you did it again and called it “implying”.
I did not say abandon the run I did not say give it to Tom and we will be fine.
We will be a pass first team and make Brady the most important player on the field.
It is the philosophy of this organization. In the post season live or die with the GOAT.
I know people want to believe that we changed philosophy (I don’t know why people want to believe that) but run/pass ratio was about the same as usual. Look at the playoff history, we put the ball in Brady’s hands. Sure game situation will temper that like if we have a big lead but we are not going to come out and put winnng or losing in the hands of the running game.

Hes using his averages again.

Brady threw 24 times vs Buffalo who has a real good defense and played tight coverage. The Pats ran for a season high 273 yards and destroyed the Bills on the ground.

A smart team will follow the Steelers/ Rex/ Ravens blueprint with 8 in coverage daring NE to run.

What you just said is a departure of what this team has done most of the year and moreso recently.

If you think that will change in the playoffs, fine.

Yep and that is where Sony and the 2TE packages come in.

They have done pretty much the same thing as they have done in previous regular seasons.
In games 5-14 they threw for over 3000 yards.
People are looking at one game in buffalo and calling it an organization change.

If you think that will change in the playoffs, fine.
That’s the point, they always have.

Given that this comes from Kacsmar that is as close to praise it can get. Outside perspective from the land of Pats haters.
