There’s no way you can say that as a fact. If we kick it out of the endzone instead of giving up the long return, kc could’ve still gotten 7. KC could’ve very well been in the 30s.

By that logic if we are just counting possibilities then you can also assume that they would have gotten a three and out (like what they did to KC towards the end of the game) or a turnover if the ball was not returned to their own GL.

The D did do a very good job in the first half. Not so much in the 2nd(a lot due to breakdowns at the S position). They lost track of the most explosive player on the field multiple times. I will say that they’ve gotten better over these last few weeks at covering rbs out of the backfield (even with hunts td) and did a good job on Kelce.

I would agree. They could have scored 30 plus either way.

D did a lot of things well:
Run D
Limiting Kelce - likely was BB point of emphasis.
Limiting Hunt at times
Good coverage on their other WRs.
Hightower was very disruptive
Elandon played well
Good disruption and edge rush most of the game, good contain on QB

Very bad:
Lack of focus on Hill
No adjustments or physicality thrown at Hill
We have JJ and Rowe and Gilmore but the McCourties are covering him?
KVN played hesitant and led to the missed tackles. He didn’t play fast and use his help on the second one was more concerning
Did Rivers play?

Wonder if Rodney still thinks Kelce is the better tight end?

Quite possible.

Random thought. I don't want to look too far ahead but something came to mind. I don't see how the Pats beat KC again. In the 2nd half KC figured something out offensively.

The Pats simply don't have a solution for those deep crosses with Hill or when Hunt vertical with a LB. The Pats I think can solve Kelce but unless they can stop the other two they will have a lot of trouble. I don't know if they have a good solution for it.

On offense I think the Patriots can repeat this performance but if they don't figure out things on defense that next game will come down to who has the ball last. I don't think any fan feels comfortable with that.
We can beat them again. They have tape now on them. They'll figure it out and plus hopefully our D will get better as we get towards mid November

I may be in the minority but I didn't think the defense was that great in the first half.

Of course you don't because you're a doom and gloom troll

One was a good one in the other one was thrown right to Hightower.

It was right to Hightower because he dropped into the passing line

This Patriots team was clearly lucky to hold them two three field goals in the first half. They couldn't do that in the second half and the Chiefs exploded for 31 points.

Oh so it's only luck when it's the Pats defense

Flowers putting pressure on Mahomes which forced him to rush his throw and overthrow isn't luck.
Gilmore breaking up a pass in the end zone isn't luck

I think there is plenty of options but the coaches would have to believe in it.

-Gilmore on Hill, he’s great on speed guys he can play off some.
-JJ on Hill, he’s fast and can be physical
-beat the hell out of Hill every play
-Get JCJ active and in the game
-Mix it up more with Chung or a corner on Hunt.

Basically anything but a McCourty or LB covering either one. I’d rather let Kelce go off than Hill.

KC adjusted at the half and our D didn't manage in game adjustments in the second half
This is one of those times when I wonder if Belichick keeps something up his sleeve for next game. I think he may have some ideas about how to counter that he doesn't show when he believes we can win as things are going, so that he can spring them in the rematch without the opponent having seen and prepared for them.

No adjustments or physicality thrown at Hill

Except for the long bomb they played him as well as anyone this season. Not sure how this was bad at all.

Obviously they need to clean up whatever went wrong on that Harmon play but apart from that it was fine. Again, you can't expect perfection against a player like Hill, he will get his. Apart from the deep bomb he was held to about 70 yards through the entire game on like 6 targets. That is not too bad.

What adjustments ? KC didn't do anything different in the second half than they did in the first. There was nothing to adjust to except shorter fields for the Chiefs and better execution than in the first half.

This lazy "adjustment" narrative really needs to end.

Wow, some posters over here can not be happy they won. Was it pretty at all times ? No, but as a fan, I am thrilled with the win, being 4-2 is fantastic , 3-3 would have been terrible !

Obviously he was huge for us in some very high-leverage situations and is a helluva player, but does anyone else think Gronk has lost a step in the open field? Just doesn’t seem as fast to me.
