I’m not sure why so many expect a sweep in the division, because it doesn’t really happen all that often.

In fact, it almost never happens. I believe that since the AFCE was created NE has only swept it 3 times, one of those being 2007.

When I’m making predictions on the team’s record I always include a divisional loss.

Losing is one thing but losing the way they did is another. Miami is a tough place to win for them but you have to wrap that kind of a game up with a win

As do many of us, sometimes more than 1 but I always start with one in Miami. For the inverse reason I always count a W when Pittsburgh is on the schedule, no matter where the game is being played. It is what it is.

The Genius can’t be at fault can he! Bill Belichick should have made sure they had and were in the right defense at the end of the game just as he should have made sure Brady fully understood the situation at the end of the first half.

You Belichick apologists give him all the credit but deflect all the blame. Belichick morphed into Raymond Berry yesterday befuddled and bemused. There’s more signs he’s slipping from age than Gronk from injury, but you guys still want him to coach until he’s 90.

I don't get your problem here.

I said the DC -- who is responsible for packages and playcalls on defense -- screwed this up. I am not covering for coaching here at all. Hell, I have said everyone played a role in losing this game including coaching. And, yes, the buck stops at BB and at some point he must have approved the individual packages. That being said I don't see why mentioning Flores here constitutes being a BB apologist. And this is not a blown call that results in a problem in most situations, in fact it is quite the opposite. It was a 1 in 100 type of play so excuse me for not throwing pitchforks towards the coaching staff for not realizing that if a certain string of improbable conditions occur that Gronk might end up the last line of defense.

On a more macro level.. I am not defending what went down late in the game but unlike others I am (trying) to understand what they were doing. Others here like to work backwards from the result instead just to find some kind of thing they can jump on.

I don't care how unpopular it is but I see the logic in having Gronk in on certain defensive packages. Obviously not in this one. In this case they blew situational football in a bad way and definitely didn't put their team into the best position to succeed.

That being said the team was still in a situation they should win 99% of the time, and if only someone makes a tackle or plays a better angle this discussion doesn't exist at all. so it is not like this is completely on coaching and the players on the field are puppets that should not be blamed for blowing a trivial play.

If the D cannot stop Bolden, who had 1 TD in 4 years, from getting 2 TDs I hate to think what Connor is going to do. Add Brown and Smith as well and the pats will be lucky to hold the Steelers to 45 points.

Well considering Bolden was untouched running in for his TD. I'd say Connor would do exactly the same thing, I mean you can only go down from there...

If you were to apply this same type of logic after each loss you'd end up predicting they lose every single game. This team has been very good at following a loss with a win for a long time now. This stat is a bit old (from 2017), but I think you'll get my point:

Since 2001 (the season where Tom Brady became starting quarterback) the Patriots have been dominant in any game coming off of a loss. Belichick's teams are 38-11 (.776) in games where they lost the week before.

Granted they win about the same % of games following a win as well, but the overall takeaway should be that expecting more losses from this team because of a loss is statistically a very bad bet.
