Possibly No Maroney or Jordan vs. Miami?

Re: Possibly No Maroney or Jordan vs Miami?

Maybe I am big on Maroney because I have never been one to say that the team would struggle without him and his usual 30-50 yards

If there is one starter missing on this offense that would not make a huge difference in a game it would be Maroney IMO -

Morris and Faulk and a little bit of Evans can play well as a trio against any team in the league

I agree with Box on this...ewally...the worst case is both Maroney and Jordan out...IF that is the case, there is still Faulk and Morris to carry the load..with Evans and Eckel as well. Eckel's pick up was a two-fer...as he will add a lot to special teams play...(as it seems Alexander and Washington will be out) and be a back up running back. In teh long run..having three weeks before the next game..will give time for both to heal...really NOT a large worry at all. With Miami's weak secondary, I think Cassel will be throwing a bit more.

Re: Possibly No Maroney or Jordan vs Miami?

Didn't Evans rush for close to 100 yards and another 50 yards through the air, when featured as a HB in Miami in 2006 (replacing the injured Dillon)??

I am not saying Morris & Faulk's jobs are in jeopardy by any means Sunday, just that we have options.

With 7 running backs, man, do we have options at the position.

Actually 6...but 2 will be out..most likely...and yes Evans had a BIG day...

Re: Possibly No Maroney or Jordan vs Miami?

anyone know when jordan got hurt ? was it in the jets game ?

After the game, Brady came into the locker room to congratulate Cassel. Limping, Brady tripped, accidently stabbed his crutch into the top of Lamont's foot and...well, you know the rest.

He's injured from being annointed so much last week.

Re: Possibly No Maroney or Jordan vs Miami?

I'm not overly concerned about either player at this point in time, or the team's prospect's for victory Sunday. Getting Maroney and Jorden healthy now will pay dividends later.
Ditto here, also. Let 'em rest. With the bye week, they will have gone three weeks without playing where the Pats head west to the Sans (Francisco and Diego).

Re: Possibly No Maroney or Jordan vs Miami?

I think you have it mixed up Jordan isnt goin to play along with Maroney, Faulk and Morris with be the rb's.

Whoops! How the hell did I missread that? O crap that does suck. I was really liking the way Jorden was pounding it. Oh well, hopefully Morris will show up like last year.

Sorry, bud - - you're wrong and Spacecrime is right - - which is why I edited the thread title for ya (added the "possibly" and the question mark). I'm sure you meant no harm, but it was deceiving when you make a thread title like that as a statement with no question marks.

I meant no harm, I was wondering how the team would look with no Maroney or Jordan. Glad to hear everyone is so confident if this is indeed the case.

No prob, babe. And it may turn out to be true. We just try to have thread titles not mislead. Since it was not anywhere near confirmed as a fact at the time, we had to correct it to avoid causing confusion.

I am not a babe. As you are a mod I will let this slide.

Not sure why a mod is allowed to take a shot at a Patriots fan on a Patriots site?

Sorry for the unintended offense. I use the term in everyday conversation with friends, and here with posters, other mods and Ian. It is a term I use like some people use "bro', dude", "buddy", etc. At a White House reception in the early 1960's for the World Champion Boston Celtics, Satch Sanders nervously blurted out "Thanks, babe" when congratulated by President John F. Kennedy.

I did not mean it to ruin your weekend.

Don't forget the one and only............ Ben Jarvis Ellis Green makes 7 (practice squad).

Re: Possibly No Maroney or Jordan vs Miami?

Assuming the worst, you still have Morris, Faulk, Evans, and Eckel. I'd say there's enough talent in that foursome to keep the fishies honest regarding the run game.

Everyone likes Sammy Morris and he is great for this team but the other three really don't intimidate anyone as runners. Faulk is clearly a threat in the passing game, hence his status as a third down back. When Dillon went down back in the day, this running offense came to a grinding stop with Faulk. As for Evans, he is probably the least talented runner I have seen in quite a while. Unless its a 3rd and 1, I would pray never to see Evans carrying the ball. Eckle is essentially an emergency back - I didn't hear of any other team trying to sign him after Belichick cut him loose earlier. If they ranked the 130 running backs in the league on active rosters, Eckle might be in the 120s.

I'd take an average back w/a talented line and well coached team over a 'talented' back behind a crap line w/an idiot coach.
who would you say has the better run game right now --- us w/evans and eckel in, or kc?
