My son sent me an email with an article from the NYFL and the idea is to choose between a player from the first run of SB's vs now. There are some tough choices. I added a few and if anyone else can think of more feel free to add them.

Vinatieri vs Gostkowski - I'll go with Gost because he hits them longer and more accurately.
Troy vs Jules - I can't pick one. They're like two peas in a pod, but Brown is my favorite Patriot of all time.
Faulk vs White - I'll take White in this one. He seems to be quicker and more prolific than Faulk was.
Rodney vs Devin - I'll take Rodney, or Stomp as one of my fellow AOLes used to call him. I liked his 'tude.
Tedy vs Dont'a - Another tough choice but I think Tedy made more big plays.
Weis vs McDaniels - I'll go with Josh. He doesn't have as good of a defense to compliment his offense as Weis did but he's more innovative.
Brady (then) vs Brady (now) - He's gotten better with age. Brady now wins.
Law vs Gilmore - Another fairly close one but I like Law in this one.
Izzo vs Slater - I think Izzo played a little more than ST's compared to Slater. Izzo.
Bethel Johnson vs Phillip Dorsett - Johnson wins for his kickoff ability.

Vinatieri vs Gostkowski
Troy vs Jules
Faulk vs White
Rodney vs Devin
Tedy vs Dont'a
Weis vs McDaniels
Brady (then) vs Brady (now)
Law vs Gilmore
Izzo vs Slater -
Bethel Johnson vs Phillip Dorsett

These are the right answers!
Thanks, a few were tough as I have love for mostly everyone (Bethel Johnson.... random)

White over Faulk was tough because I love me some KFaulk, but White is better.

Hightower has the potential to surpass Tedy with a few more clutch playoff moments and staying with the Pats to finish his career.

Jules has earned it over Troy, but very close. Jules is the superior player, slim margin though.

The others were pretty easy.

On no planet would I take Gostkowski over Vinatieri.

I think all the versus should be against this week's Ram's equivalents. i don't want ourselves to be the opponents right now.

Why not? I understand that AV kicked the biggest kick in the team's history in 2001, but Gost is more accurate and kicks them longer than AV. The numbers don't lie.

Because Gostkowski has missed some costly kicks (extra points)

But that was after they moved it back. He never missed when the kicks were at the 10

Well I’d hope not. A 33 yarder should be a gimmie and it usually is till we get to the post season.

33 yarders aren't gimmes when you're kicking 40-50+ of them a year.

33 yarders are gimmies. He usually makes them when it doesn’t matter. When it does sometimes he is shaky.

Trying to think of some others
Dillon over Michel
Seymour over flowers
What about vrabel vs Hightower? People taking Hightower there?
Different positions, but who would you rather have on your line- light or mason?
Wilfork vs Shelton? Just kidding

Including playoffs, Adam missed 4 extra points this year, Gost missed one.

In the three seasons since the XP was moved back,
Gost is 140-146 (95.9%) playing almost all games outdoors
Adam is 110-115 (95.7%) playing a majority of games indoors

Gost is better at kicking XPs than Adam
Adam can't do kickoffs

Gost all day.

this exercise is players as they were vs players of today.

What are adams Extra points for when he was a patriot?

There will be a little cross over for some guys but I'll try to ask some more interesting questions

QB - Brady 04' vs Brady 18'
OT - Light vs Brown or Solder
OG - Mankins vs Mason
C - Koppen vs Andrews
WR - Brown or Branch vs Edelman
RR - Dillon vs Sony
RB - Faulk vs White

DE - McGinest vs Flowers
DL - Seymour vs Wilfork
LB - Bruschi vs Hightower (prime Hightower)
LB - Johnson vs Van Noy
S - Harrison AND Wilson(prime) vs McCourty AND Chung(prime) Which duo?
K - V vs G
OC - Weis vs McDaniels

Edit: My picks. Brady 04', Light, Mankins, Andrews, Edelman, Dillon, Faulk, McGinest, Wilfork, Bruschi, Van Noy, McCourty and Chung (Wilson just isn't that good), V and McD.

here's what I know for sure...

You can pick a Pat

and you can pick your nose

but it is in extremely bad taste to pick a Pat's nose...
